I have been working at HSBC Holdings full-time for more than 3 years

        Pros

        1. Work life balance is good. 2. There is a lot of inclusion. 3. They are good paymasters and that is why they have low attrition rate 4. Exposure to high end work is there. The Global Finance center is part of Bank itself rather than just being a shared services center.

        Cons

        1. There are pockets where work life balance is very poor which mean there could be a lot of disparity as well. 2. Opportunities for growth are very limited. 3. Trying to make too many changes at the same time and at time there are no structure.

        Advice to Management

Management can do better by not coming with surprises and too many change in very short span of time which is very confusing for the people.

Former Employee - Assistant Vice President in Buffalo, NY

I worked at HSBC Holdings full-time for more than 10 years

        Pros

        Decent benefits, comparable pay scales

        Cons

Individual managers in Compliance are disengaged from their employees as persons. Also, when the layoffs roll around (every three months), older employees are almost exclusively those shown the door. It amazes me that there hasn’t been a lawsuit. It’s also nigh impossible for a middle aged woman to live up the ladder, even with year over year outstanding performance reviews.

        Pros

An international bank which has opportunities to meet people with different backgrounds from different countries. Opportunities are available globally. The bank provides good benefits, such as medical insurance, paid vacation days.

        Cons

The bank has been struggling with cost cutting for decades. Employees have to face budget cutting, salary freeze, hiring freeze and etc.
