Sometimes long hours/overtime that spills into the weekend which can be expected at most agencies

More opportunity than meets the eye.

      Pros

You know the saying "you only get out what you put in"? Well, that's completely true at HZ. I've been here for a few years, and this place has treated me well—but I've treated it well, too. I've worked hard to carve out a niche for myself, create really good relationships with really creative and smart people, and have honestly learned something new everyday. I like how the agency is ever-changing, pushing to do new things and bringing in cool clients. Healthcare plan is good, and pay is on par with other local agencies. There are a bunch of employees who have been here a long time, and that says a lot.

      Cons

There are times that I want things to be more formal and organized. But on the other hand, when I visit some of my clients' offices, I'm thankful that we are a 'jeans-and-flipflops'-type place. I just have to turn my head to the clutter.

Great place to grow your career

      Pros

      - laid back, creative culture - good work/life balance - smart people that are great to hang with after hours - great list of clients

      Cons

      - groups can get a little cliquey, but that's pretty typical of any work environment - there could have been more opportunities to participate in industry events, but they've really come a long way since I've been there

      A Frustrating Great Experience

      Pros

Casual dress awesome extremely smart people who you will keep as friends after leaving the company laid back culture great opportunity to learn if you are a Jr/early mid-level employee, but only if you are self-motivated to teach yourself, or have a smart mentor

      Cons

If you don't have an iron fist when negotiating salary, you will get paid close to McDonald's workers Departments and campaign efforts are too siloed Sr management does not have the backs of their employees/and will take 100% credit for major accomplishments without even personally giving you recognition, is too detached from the skills and knowledge needed to understand what their employees do and have to deal with on a daily basis, and ultimately are in-place for the sole purpose of vanity since the middle/lower management employees are more competent and are the true backbone of the agency's success Co-workers are very clicky when it comes to social interaction There might be formulaic promotions, but other than that, there is really no opportunity to grow as a professional as the agency doesnt' monetarily support conference/workshop attendance or education tuition Although there are a few very amazing people in account services, a lot of AEs are too detached from digital that they don't accurately communicate with clients, thus, resulting in a lot of frustrating client requests that steal entirely too much time from more important work

Get your foot in the door, then get out.

      Pros

Company has great clients and produces great (cool) work. Nice Christmas presents and holiday parties. Summer Fridays. Casual dress environment. Great place to get your foot into the industry. You will work with some very creative and smart people.

      Cons

This place is basically high school all over again. I have never worked in an environment where even upper management participated in the gossip. Starting salary is a complete joke. I have a college degree and I am pretty sure trash men make more as their salary. There is no work/life balance. Location is not the best unless you live in Maryland. Favoritism is played to its fullest. If you aren't "in"....good luck. Benefits? What benefits? Everyone just works to get the work out, there is absolutely no strategy behind anything they do. People who have "power" take it WAY too seriously...talking down to workers is a common theme. Communication from management down is very poor.
