    Pros

Salary not too bad for some

Targets employees that have an opinion and speak up and manufactures an excuse to unfairly pressure them to leave. HR biased and cover up their underhand ways and turn a blind eye if others intimidate staff.

I have been working at Haven Power full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Contribute to local charities. Family friendly Hold paid partys

    Cons

they promise development but nothing materialises. Dont expect promotions, its not what you know, but who you know and blow. They dont look at your experience or knowledge, they only look at how well you answer stupid irrelevant questions in interviews. Always changes and restructuring, offloading high management to then get someone in doing the same job under a different title. Pay gaps between different departments is a joke, you could get paid the same to just answer phones as you do managing large accounts. They make you take unpaid leave if you have childcare issues. They dont treat everyone equally. one rule for one, one for another.

"2 years ago I would've recommended to a friend, but now I would not"

I have been working at Haven Power full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-Most members of staff are approachable and friendly - This is one of the main reasons why people do stay working for Haven. -Recent refurbishment to office is nice, however some downsides like blinds no longer block the sun. -Can purchase 5 additional days of annual leave (salary sacrifice) -My current role allows my own organisation of tasks, so it allows some freedom due to not being targeted on tasks. The role can be stressful and demanding at points but that is a challenge I was up for. -Management have always been considerate and caring when personal circumstances or incidents have arisen -Considers requests for part time or flexible hours

    Cons

-A lot of changes have happened over the past 1 year+. There have been a number of redundancies and roles removed in the business - this has caused employees to be scared about losing their role. -Any changes during my time here have been poorly communicated and this is something which they have always struggled to change. -Haven Power are under the DRAX group along with OPUS energy, however the same role in other DRAX group offices are paid considerably more than Haven Power Ipswich employees. This has caused outrage by many people as these salaries are visible to see and people feel they are not appreciated. Ipswich is the highest average cost of living compared to the other office locations, and no reason has been provided to why Ipswich employees are paid far less. -All Careers are now in Career levels, however details of the salary banding will not be released. This proves difficult when applying for other roles or to understand why you are in the career level you are. -Unfair time of work during Christmas time - previously we would get 2 half a days, however this year if you had booked the full day off, you were given no time back when others were given additional leave time. -The bonus is based on targets which an individual can not influence, this means people who use to rely on the bonus can no longer rely on this - If no bonus is received this year, I know a number of people will reconsider their career. -I refereed my partner several years ago and had to fight to get the the refer a friend money. They have tried progressing on several occasions for a long time however their request to do this has always been ignored / blocked. All interviews are points based, so regardless of your experience or length of time at Haven, the successful candidate is who scored the most interview points. I regret reffering my partner due to how their career progression has not been allowed and the intensity of the role they are stuck with which was not the role they had applied for when joining. -My friend applied previously and all their experience was customer service roles, however they had to chase numerous times to find the outcome of the interview and finally received a poorly written email saying they were unsuccessful and no feedback provided on the reason when requested. -The number of people who have left over the years is shocking. We have said goodbye to so many experienced people who were needed in the business. -New starters will not be trained by a trainer, they will now learn on the job. This has faced difficult fr some people as not everyone can learn this way and it can be extremely daunting having the feeling you do not know what you are doing. -Personal deliveries can not longer be received at the office - This was a benefit the majority of people needed but has since been taken away. -There are countless issues and errors which are discovered or in the way we work and it has always felt there is no ownership. We have all gone through LEAN and the main discussions in the office you are is 'we don't have capacity to do that'. -It has never felt the reasoning on why people leave is listened to, as the reasons they leave are still there. -Plus ones to work events is no longer an option. -The car park can be damaging to your car and there is sometimes a fight to find a spot to park. -Teams which deal with larger customers and are more demanding in the tasks they do and targets they need to meet, are not paid anymore than a normal CSA. -Requests cover of other roles, ie. Reception, and makes you feel you have to say yes. People are in the role they are in as thats what they wanted to do, not to then have to provide cover for roles or areas of the business which did not replace leavers. -Outcome of this shows a large number of cons vs pros in the current status of Haven Power. It is saddening on how times have changed, and there is no longer career progression or sense of appreciation. There is another energy company in Ipswich which a large number of ex Haven Power employees have gone to as they pay considerably more for the same job.

I have been working at Haven Power full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Of the places I have worked, Haven Power is the place that I have felt the most engaged and empowered to make a difference. I feel like I not only deliver customer service but also contribute to the type of service we offer. Our leaders genuinely listen and we are included in continuous improvement which I not only enjoy but it genuinely makes my job easier and helps us all to understand what is happening in other areas of the business. For the first time we collaborate, share ideas on what needs to change and work together as one team. It is so good to see this leading to ACTUAL change in the organisation. In the last couple of years, there's been a real change in focus to help us better understand our roles, what we need to do to perform and for the first time in the past couple of years I can actually see poor performance being managed. Customers are treated fairly and we are winning awards. We even won an award for helping in the community, on a sustainability project. I am so proud to work here and its fun too... there is no stuffiness, everyone talks to everyone and everyone is interested in making it a great place to work.

    Cons

There are some big changes happening at the moment and nobody likes change, but from past experience of things being managed really badly, these changes are actually being managed really well so far. We know we want to grow and evolve as a company so it's good to see things getting done and deep down we know we have a CEO and leaders now who really care which frankly is such a change from other organisations I have worked in. It is just a busy time for everyone.
