    Pros

    My department was friendly and the management very approachable. Progression opportunity.

    Cons

    Work was often repetitive. Some office politics in other departments - but that's the same everywhere.

    Civil service perks. Very big department with one of the highest salaries paid

    Cons

    No optiknfor paid overtime however option for flexi working so extra hours can be taken as leave at another time

    flexible working hours extra hours go towards flexible leave

    Cons

    not much scope for visible atm for progression, other than quiting and joining as a contractor, work progression happens through applying for higher level jobs however doesn't seem like there are many software developer jobs

    Opportunities for growth and skill building, fast career progression, friendly colleagues and great culture. Defined benefit pension.

    Cons

    Likely to be better-paid in the private sector at the same level. Annual pay increases below inflation, pay rises effectively only on promotion.
