      Pros

      1. The people are really at the heart of this company. You notice from day 1 that the company cares about it's employees. This is reflected from monthly training days, to frequent personal development sessions, and the general environment of togetherness across departments. 2. The base salary is very strong, with annual opportunities for this to increase

      Cons

The learning pathway for graduates isn't clearly defined. This means that depending on the project you're assigned to, the technical skills you learn will be limited to the requirements of that project. This shouldn't be a problem as over time you may end up picking a lot of things up, but this can mean you'll need to push for certain training opportunities other graduates may have received and not expect them to be provided to you.

Growing company with great staff and opportunities

      Pros

I started at Aquila Heywood in Altrincham just as the Redhill part of the Business was sold off and there were many challenges surrounding the IT Systems. It is amazing to see how much the company has adapted and grown in the 2 years since that time. A plan was put in place to tackle the backlog of work, stabilise IT and transition to new environments and there is a clear view of what is required and how to get there. Over my first year, a lot of staff including managers were replaced and there was an unsettling feeling. This has now been addressed with good choices on replacements and strong decision making by the Senior Management Team. I was also impressed by the efforts to diversify the workforce, including championing Women in Tech. The company has grown by a large percentage in terms of headcount, and have on-boarded over 50 people remotely with new tech in the last year. There is definitely room to develop skills and further your career within the company as it grows further. Just before I left, the company was taken over by new owners who have immediately pledged investment to tackle the legacy systems and further modernise. I believe the company will go from strength to strength, and I would recommend it to any prospective employee. I would have been very happy to stay in my role if I didn't need to relocate for family reasons. A final word on the Staff. With very few exceptions, they are without doubt the friendliest and most supportive people I have worked with in my career. This spans from my line manager, to my wider team, the HR department, office manager and many others throughout the business. They want you to succeed and will help you get there.

      Cons

Some of the Infrastructure is still running on legacy equipment and needs to be updated.

A great place to be (virtually for now)

      Pros

Great culture and support. Wide variety of work to get involved in. Strong in the marketplace with an excellent client base. Adjusted to remote working well.

      Cons

Career path can be undetermined in some roles (but likely due to size of business). Could do with more opportunities to take on professional qualifications while in role. Benefits package (aside from Salary) could be improved.

      Pros

Heywood got their culture right. Their company values are embedded in every department and you can see that on daily basis. Very robust and resilient company structure yet everybody is approachable, friendly, and always helpful. It's a great place to work if you are a graduate because their processes and tools are always up to date with the latest company trends and tech. The company's response to the COVID pandemic was really good. They did a good job by moving to fully remote working and kept every safe and sound. They are always transforming (for the better) so it's never a bad time to join them!

      Cons

Not much on a negative side. Maybe more curly fries?
