Pros

Really can't think of any

Cons

What an awful company. Don't be fooled by the "guiding principles"- there's no transparency from the leadership, poor comms, entire teams laid off overnight without any context, very questionable business decisions. Strong favoritism, promotions not based on merits. No diversity on management level. This company is on its way down.

Sinking ship with overly enthusiastic management

Pros

Good pay. Lovely modern office. People genuinely want to do good work and are all approachable. No big egos here (for the most part). Great website - many companies don’t put as much work into their websites. Culture was okay - you felt like a part of something bigger than you. Highspot platform is nice to look at.

Cons

In the beginning it was a cult-like culture of Highspot or die but since the layoffs, people (IC's mostly) became dejected and were just trying to stay above water. There is a lack of transparency across the board from both managers and execs. Nobody actually uses the Highspot platform to its full capacity, not even the GTM teams whose jobs are to sell it. Product teams releasing new features that no one at Highspot actually utilised or cared about. No alignment across teams yet keeps promoting sales and marketing alignment (ironic). All the good people left (or were let go). Many who have remained have equity. 3 layoffs in 8 months. Performative DEIB. OBSESSED with the competition. EMEA market is an afterthought for Seattle execs. Everyone is expected to praise Highspot on LinkedIn. Bad data.

Pros

The team and culture used to be great. Excellent, kind colleagues who valued openness and diversity - I've never worked in a culture like it, and unfortunately I doubt I will again if I leave. Good pay, and before the layoff rounds started in early 2023, career progression was pretty visible and attainable if you worked hard.

Cons

Unfortunately, there are quite a few cons, and it pains me to say it because for the most part I truly enjoyed working at HS. Firstly, the entire LT in North America needs a complete overhaul. And I mean, complete. The financial decisions that have been made in recent times have been some of the worst I've ever seen in decades of business. Favoritism has overridden business-centric decision making, and as a result of that, the company is in dire straits. Secondly, the product is good but ignores a lot of true enablement challenges. Lastly, my mental health has almost completely deteriorated after rounds of layoffs. I live in constant fear that it will be me next, and am actively looking for a new role. There has been little to no empathy or attempts at harvesting psychological safety from the leadership team - the main messaging has been "get over it and get on with it". Absolutely despicable and lends to the first point of needing a complete overhaul.
