I have been working at Hitachi Capital (UK) part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I have worked for Hitachi for nearly 7 years, I couldn't imagine working for another company.
You’re not just a number, you are a valid member of the team. Senior managers are very friendly and approachable.
I had breakfast with Vincent Reboul (MD) last week and he was a very nice, knew who I was which area I worked in and was very easy to talk to and his open honesty was refreshing.
My Line Manager Rula Samara (Collections Manager) is one of the nicest, down to earth people I have ever worked with. Doesn’t matter if you are a manager, senior or agent in collections she will help you anyway she can, nothing is too difficult or time consuming.

    Cons

    can't think of any

I have been working at Hitachi Capital (UK) full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good work environment. Great work ethic.

    Cons

No effort to do knowledge transfer. No encouragement to cross train people.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to be fair with employees. Few favoured one get preferencial treatment like working from home etc. There is no efforts done for knowledge transfer. Managers are busy in their own progression and do not support staff progression.

I have been working at Hitachi Capital (UK) full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Great people.
Good work/life balance (most of the time).
Pace of change: The business is constantly moving forward, makes the work interesting and is very good for personal development.
Genuinely aims to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

    Cons

Systems need development & some processes quite outdated.
A long way to go with digitisation as still heavily reliant on paper.
Lack of collaboration across different business units (although this is improving).

I have been working at Hitachi Capital (UK) full-time

    Pros

    - Great opportunities for development, with annual investment in learning / development and an awesome mentoring programme
    - Great rewards / recognition: weekly gold star award can be nominated by any employee with reward, star awards can be nominated ad hoc by all employees with budget allocated for personalised reward, employee of the month, and a rising star programme.
    - Annual bonus scheme is generous, and has been awarded every year I’ve worked for the company. In this climate that is a rarity.
    - Social perks are substantial. The social committee has budget for celebrating success and treats employees. It’s not unusual at Christmas to have a works party plus additional budget per head for team get togethers. Christmas bonus is not guaranteed but again have received one every year.
    - Gives substantially to charity and price matches all donations. Employees can nominate charities and a monthly donation for dress down day is matched and given to the voted charity. All employees can take a volunteer day and teams will often use theirs together to support a charity event.
    - There are a lot of opportunities to get involved in exciting projects, which supports self-development. The company puts a lot of onus on the individual to identify their development needs, but puts a lot in place to support the employee to achieve their goals. You get out of it what you put in.
    - There are loads of great people who work the company!

    Cons

    - Quality of managers can be hit and miss and the management training is not mandatory meaning those managers who actually need it don’t tend to go.
    - The approach to policy / process is not always adhered to consistently across divisions e.g. non-managers can attend manager training as a development opportunity in one division but cannot in another. L&D is a central function so this should be consistent.
    - The company prides itself on values, and whilst the majority of staff apply those values, there is a little way to go to address those who do not.
    - The company is growing at pace but the pace of change delivery can’t quite match it. The approach to IT engagement is restrictive and encourages people to do their own thing which causes its own set of problems. The balance of governance v flexibility is not quite right.

None of these are insurmountable issues and easily solved with a little bit of effort. Not only that but employees are encouraged to challenge and contribute to improvement, so everyone has the ability to influence.

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to and respond positively to feedback from staff, and deal with management inconsistencies as these are most often the cause of employee disengagement and negativity.
