I have been working at Holland & Barrett Retail full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people, fab training and wonderful field management team in the South West. Company is on a transformational journey its a really exciting time to get on board!

    Cons

Lots of time away from home, only so many premier inn breakfasts you can take! But even that's not an issue for me really.

    Advice to Management

Nothing really springs to mind, just remember to keep us in the loop, it's all way to exciting to stay quiet! :)

I have been working at Holland & Barrett Retail part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Educational benefits are almost unlimited with the opportunity to increase pay upon completion of Units which is a win win if you are interested in the subject and investing the time to studying.

    Cons

I do not have any cons, however if you are not interested in progressively learning this job may not be for you.

I have been working at Holland & Barrett Retail full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The team
    25% discount
    Onsite Gym at Head Office
Opportunity to progress within the business

    Cons

Poor Culture - definately an old school mentality, almost aggressive.
Lack of systems makes the day to day job difficult and time consuming
Blame Culture is alive and kicking in this business
High turnover of staff both in the retail estate and within some head office departments that can have a detrimental effect on cross functional departments
Very rarely do you get to leave on time... lots of people work ridiculous excessive hours

    Advice to Management

Culture needs to change from the top and cascade down
The health & wellbeing of the employee needs to be a consideration
Very top heavy with lots of Directors in the business.... more tiers the the Royal Wedding Cake!

I worked at Holland & Barrett Retail full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Helping others and making a difference to their health and well-being. Training and coaching staff. Learning new things. Creating a positive working environment. Varied working day. I honestly love my job and could not fulfil the same role anywhere else. Most days are a pleasure and so fulfilling. 5 stars for job satisfaction!

    Cons

Products are over priced. Stores are understaffed as the deployment model does not work

    Advice to Management

Stop all lone trading in stores. This will give store managers opportunity to do tasks during quieter times instead of out of hours, which will stop the need to work 60 hour weeks, increase productivity and reduce theft. It will also improve customer service and staff moral, leading to lower staff turnover.
