I worked at Hollister Co. full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The brand and stock reps are very friendly and efficient. Good discount on clothing and decent benefits.

    Cons

TERRIBLE management!!! from corporate all the way to store managers. Very high school like with the gossip and zero respect for other people's privacy. Very judgmental and outspoken people at this company, just completely unprofessional. Think twice before excepting a position with this company if you like a drama-free environment.

    Advice to Management

Try using the golden rule you give to your employees: "treat others the way you'd like to be treated". Give respect and don't abuse your authority. Listen to your employees and gain some empathy for others. Grow up!

    Pros

    Simple interview and application process

    Cons

Employee politics are a problem with multi-level management. Almost every Hollister store has a problem with management treating their coworkers horribly. The amount of stress working in retail PLUS the disrespect that comes from other managers is shameful. Bullying is a major problem and their is a pecking order. No matter what day or week .... everyday is the same. If you want a job where things are always changing and there is something different to look forward to everyday then PLEASE DO NOT WORK HERE! Also, if you did not grow up judging people by the way they look then please do not work here. You will find yourself at a moral crossroads when you will have to hire people because they fit the "beautiful people" list. Bullying is a major issue. Reporting it does absolutely nothing with this company. Lastly, there is NO WORK/LIFE balance. Say goodbye to spending time with family and friends. Those days are over.

    Advice to Management

Your company has a zero tolerance for bullying but you DO NOT enforce it. You make the topic a part of the "management training" binder but fail to put the policy to work.

    Pros

The company lays everything out. Flat out. Anybody can follow the instructions that the company so clearly has you follow and succeed. Great people all around. Wonderful advancement opportunities if you are genuinely a hard worker.

    Cons

The company seems to have floor updates quite frequently. They cut hours very quickly, so prepare to do a lot of work as a manager if you are not given enough hours to have associates help with tasks. Low low pay for both associates and management.

    Pros

Discounts at Abercrombie, Vacation Time, Personal Time and sick Leave.

    Cons

Bad Management, You can't hire people if they're unattractive. Store had roaches. Store hires associates at 17 who call out constantly, but the store remains so low staffed that you can't fire employees that don't show up.

    Advice to Management

Look Policy goes to their head.

I have been working at Hollister Co. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

All managers must have received a Bachelors degree or higher, thus you will find yourself working with very competent, critically thinking capable co-managers.

    Cons

The hourly rate of $13-$14/hourly was not worth the amount of time put into our work. If all managers are expected to have college educations then they should be paid as such.

    Advice to Management

Treat this position as either a stepping stone to something better, or have a attitude that retail management at Hollister Co. as a dream job. Otherwise, you will find yourself very unhappy.
