I worked at Hollister Co. part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun atmosphere, good discount on clothes, nice managers, good student, flexible job

    Cons

Have to spend a lot on the uniform which is hard when you only work part time. Usually only 5 hour long shifts which isn't ideal if you're travelling a far distance.

    Advice to Management

Give us longer shifts and work out a uniform scheme so we don't have to buy new uniform every couple of months

I worked at Hollister Co. part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some of the employees were very nice to hang out with. Very flexible working hours.

    Cons

There were well over a hundred people employed at the branch I was at (Bristol, UK), so it was difficult to get shifts as everyone fought over them. Every week they'd have group interviews to have more people join as well so it was a bit ridiculous.
Also, the "rules" that we had to work by in terms of appearance were just one step too far. Our contract told us things such as "nails aren't allowed to grow 3/4 of an inch past the end of our finger" and silly things like that.

    Advice to Management

    Stop employing so many people!

    Pros

Good clean working environment, with a misconsecption of snobby staff. Have loved working there

    Cons

    Pays quite low at 6.25

    Advice to Management

    Increase pay!!!

    Pros

Flexible working hours. Everyone that worked there was so nice. Dress code really relaxde

    Cons

Tills could use an upgrade - software would mean the system crashed a lot, and also could be a nightmare processing returns when you need a managers card to do so, and often can take ages for a manager to get to the counter, wasting the customers time.

    Advice to Management

Staff should wear some kind of landyard to identify them on the shop floor

    Pros

Bragging rights of calling yourself a model! Friends think its quite cool, good way to impress girls.

    Cons

Very very boring job with useless bosses.

    Advice to Management

Keep moving the staff around, be more dynamic.

    Pros

Really friendly staff, great atmosphere and interesting job! Loved it! I would definatkey work in a hollister store again very enjoyable.

    Cons

Can be very hot and if you are looking for a permemenant and reliable job regarding hours this may not be the one as they are given whenever and are zero hour contacts.

    Advice to Management

Keep the positive review notes as this is very formal and helps to know where you stand as an employee. Keep young management as they are easier to get along with.

I have been working at Hollister Co. part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Very social work environment. Everyone is around the same age (late teens to mid twenties, even the managers) so it's easy to get along with and relate to everyone.

    - It's mostly a chilled/trendy workplace. Managers can be pretty relaxed and empathetic because most of them started part time.

    - customers are young as well so easier to deal with mostly.

    - we used to have these stressful 'call-in' shifts but they've discontinued them.

    - discount 50% on triple a and 20% everything else.

    Cons

    - Depending on your manager, sometimes you can get very little training or guidance and yet be expected to do everything perfectly AND quickly. Sometimes it can be very stressful and taken way too seriously for a minimum wage retail job.

    - sometimes you won't get scheduled at all because the more shifts you work the more you can get. Shifts are based solely on performance.

    - the company as a whole has gotten way more disorganised than it used to be and appears to be having an identity crisis. In some ways I prefer how they used to be pre-2015; work was much more structured and enjoyable.

    Advice to Management

I wish the company did some things differently. I wish training was better and I wish we could bring back the look policy and style guide.. The company has improved in many ways but also gotten worse in other ways.

    nothing, management is the best
