I have been working at Hollister Co. part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

50% off employee discount. Easy job (sometimes tol easy).

    Cons

0 hour contract—I went from being scheduled a ton to not having been scheduled to work at all in 4 weeks. They have done this to many employees (good ones at that). There’s always three-four managers working at one time, and yet if an associate is already in the middle of a task, or with a customer, they will pull them away to make them do something else. On top of that, there’s lack of communication between managers, so you’ll have one tell you to do one thing and five seconds later another will be irritated with you for doing that and will make you do something else. I once had a manager shout at me in front of a customer because I didn’t answer the phone while helping that customer. The customer was not pleased with this. This same manager has been rude to other employees and constantly uses a rude tone for no reason (she was only an AM in training around many of these instances). Honestly, it is one of the worst places I’ve ever worked, which makes the good parts completely cancel out. It’s also so boring that a four hour shift often feels like a 12 hour one.

    Advice to Management

Have more appreciation for your good employees, and stop picking favourites. Communicate better with each other and more respectfully to your employees. Be more fair in your scheduling; stop scheduling people who you’re close with, but slack off during shifts, for five days a week and then giving several other good employees zero hours, especially for several weeks in a row.
