I have been working at Hollister Co. part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Ideal job for students, 0 hour contract means you can fit work around you. working with a team of motivated individuals all of a similar age group, a stock associate remains mostly in the stockroom completing daily tasks such as processing shipment and replenishing shop floor. Although managers have to make sure they are business focussed, they take enough time to ensure associates are prepared for their role.... *50% discount* :)

    Cons

0 hour contract. Sounds flexible, but will only work in your favour if you prove you are a consistent hard worker, the harder you work when you start at Hollister, the more hours you get when you want them. Hourly rate is not amazing but not dreadful.

    Advice to Management

continue to support associates the way you do, encouragement and appraisal goes a long way, perhaps more in depth training could be handy for a few things

I worked at Hollister Co. part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Lots of young people to make friends with. Easy going work place. Lots of out of work socialising.

    Cons

Strict looks policy - not too much make up. Uniform (clothes from the store) have to be approved by your manager. 50% off 'uniform' but have to wear Hollister - and you have to choose your outfit from a look book of a few items. Zero hours contract - not guranteed work.

    Advice to Management

Maybe get some more experienced managers in opposed to 21 year olds fresh out of uni.

I have been working at Hollister Co. part-time for more than a year

    Pros

It's an easy job, ideal for work around university as zero hour contract, friendly environment 50% discount

    Cons

hours can be hard to get during quieter periods managers have little experience actually managing, most straight out of uni so can be very immature little/no progression opportunities

    Advice to Management

you get out what you put into the staff - spend more time incentivising and rewarding if you want part-time staff to actually care about the company stop making promises you can't fulfil

I worked at Hollister Co. full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Great environment, lively, fun, positive people - Pays extremely well for an entry level (ie. for a graduate to get 26+ is pretty good) - opens a lot of doors and future opportunities - Supportive team and superiors - Internal growth within the company, a great career path - progression is very fast if you work hard and efficient you are potentially be in line for a promotion within a year or two if... you work hard and go above and beyond in your job - values cultures and diversity a lot which gives everyone equal opportunities - it’s a very hands on job, you get to do everything and therefore develop in a lot of areas: sales, business, trend forecasting, recruiting, merchandising, staff training, hours management and people management. You find what you’re strong at and develop yourself from there, upper manager is always helping you to develop yourself and prepare you to to be ready to get a promotion which I find amazing. - since hollister has a lot of branches around the world you could ask to be transferred elsewhere and potentially get to work abroad too!

    Cons

    - no Christmas holiday, they have something called a “black out period” from mid November to end of December where you can’t book any holiday off at all (you’d still get 2 days a week as your regular day off but that’s it) - what’s app group chat that talks about work even when you’re ok holiday or day off... - sales tactic is very pushy, I personally get really uncomfortable because I always feel like I’m... always pushing people to buy more than they need - target goal for incentive is ridiculous it’s not realistic and achievable most of the time, because you have to hit a certain amount to get your incentive (bonus) and they set it so high it’s like they don’t want to give bonus anyways - as it’s a retail job hours can be quite late sometimes, expect nearly no weekend off (unless you book day offs which can be hard to do sometimes) - if anyone looking to work in head office there wouldn’t be much chance, progression is retail focus and not much of a head office spaces, so if you’re looking to work your way to be transferred to head office it’ll be a long hard road
