I have been working at Hotel Chocolat full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Opportunities for growth within the company - Great values as a company in terms of ethics and putting people first - Good work atmosphere, encouraged to engage with people - Amazing perks - 50% staff discount, performance based incentives, regular sampling of products - Opportunities to host events, attend think tanks, give feedback - Great level of support from other stores/DMs - Company always looking to evolve and improve their practices

    Cons

    - All staff, including sales advisors are expected to train to the level of ASM, which could be seen as a bit much if you’re only looking for a part time/weekend job - Errors are sometimes made higher up in the company that retail stores have to deal with e.g. packaging errors that have to be explained to guests, allocation errors resulting in time consuming stock adjustments and returns etc. - Can be stressful, especially through the busy periods e.g. Christmas.

I have been working at Hotel Chocolat part-time for more than a year

    Pros

I do agree with a lot of the company ethics and feel that there are many areas where they do set a brilliant standard but this is hugely belittled by the staff which create a horrid work environment.

    Cons

Store managers aren’t understanding, as a part time worker they seem to expect a massive commitment from staff and are unforgiving to people having off days. They are not welcoming or approachable but will later ask why staff don’t let them know if there’s something going on in personal lives. District managers are the same if not even worse, on more than one occasion have been known to shoot the messenger despite sales advisors having no autonomy to make decisions. On more than one occasion I’ve either seen or been victim to what can only be described as workplace bullying. Overall makes for a miserable workplace and low morale.

I worked at Hotel Chocolat part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - A genuinely lovely team, both in store and across our district - A generous staff discount, and vouchers around Easter and Christmas - Above minimum wage, with additional hourly pay for supervisors - A really good training programme

    Cons

    - Communication between store and head office wasn't always great, especially around busier times of the year - Working a shorter contract (8 hours) meant I was reliant on additional overtime hours, which could vary drastically month-to-month

I have been working at Hotel Chocolat part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

A great product, generous discount, promotion oppurtunities.

    Cons

Training should be given to all management employs on how to deal with staff coming to them about being stressed, anxious etc. More regular checks on individual stores. Every staff member should be treated equally. This is not always the case.
