    Pros

Howdens offers a decent pay, and the staff are friendly.

    Cons

Ways of working can vary from one depot to the next and when new strategies are implemented, they are not always crystal clear at first.

I have been working at Howdens Joinery full-time

    Pros

Howdens reward hard work and good attitude, it's that simple. Basically you get out what you put in.

    Cons

Company has grown so fast there are some people who believe it's still not a true enterprise company, which it is. The potential for this company is limitless if only some of the older depot-centric management would let it happen.

    Pros

    Cons

To many depos open up on the same door stop brings a challange for all.

I have been working at Howdens Joinery full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good salary, great incentives, supportive company I have worked for howdens for over 15 years and I have taken the rough and the smooth but the company still stands and we still get a pay rise each year

    Cons

Sometimes there is lacking in clear communication... I don't think upper management understand how their staff feel or what we need

    I worked at Howdens Joinery

    Pros

Ownership of projects throughout internship. Easy to access support. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. The "Howdens Culture".

    Cons

No current engineering graduate scheme, as I would have liked to have returned upon graduating.

I have been working at Howdens Joinery full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Howdens has a work-hard / play-hard ethic which they really stick to. Salaries are generally quite competitive; they offer decent benefits; the company culture is generally open and friendly; there are loads of incentives for staff: VIP access at Grand Prix events; Go-carting locally and overseas; Spa days; weekends abroad with colleagues; free kitchen draws, etc.

    Cons

Quite honestly, none. Its a great environment.

I have been working at Howdens Joinery full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Competitive base salary Fantastic bonus scheme Great pension and share scheme Amazing career progression Howdens is a fantastic place to work, in fact 7th best Big company to work for according to the Sunday times top 100 list. It's fast paced and reactive. There's sometimes a bit of pressure, but it's a sales driven business. The hours are longer than other companies perhaps, but you're well compensated for them. The best thing about Howdens is the career progression. I don't know of another company where you can walk into the warehouse with no qualifications and end up a depot/area/regional manager.

    Cons

There are quite a lot of brand sceptics and brand saboteurs in the company. If positivity is infectious, then negativity is a damn epidemic. A lot of "been there, done that, heard it all before" people, who seem to want to spread their bitterness at never getting further than their attitude has got them.
