I worked at IFDS full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Worked there for around 16 years, most of which were good, with long standing management, who mostly knew what they were doing and how to motivate staff, although the pay was not brilliant.

    Cons

There is a massive disparity in pay scales between different section within the company. It's also now more about bums in seats rather than having the correct people in right jobs.

    Advice to Management

Make sure the right people are in the right jobs, to ensure a smooth running business with less FTE

I have been working at IFDS full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-There are some great people at IFDS, I have made some friends for life, who I see regularly outside of work.
-With the apprenticeship, the qualifications you get NVQ & IOC are valuable if you want to progress, especially up to London.
-You will benefit from the great experience and a variation of clients and products.

    Cons

-Pay is a massive issue here and is one of the main reason people leave. If you're on the apprenticeship scheme you start on £12,500 and it goes up by about £1k every 6 months over an 18 month period.
    - The systems are a complete nightmare, IT department do not fix problems, they create workarounds which mean we lose customers to lack of competent systems.
    - Some of the management are inexperienced and have no idea about they are talking about, others are just plain rude (there are however exceptions to this rule).

    Advice to Management

-Pay more attention to your staff, most managers are very dismissive when it comes to helping and especially in situations with escalated complaint calls, no one wants to help!
    - Definitely, a better-structured pay structure as that's when people get annoyed when they find out someone doing the same job as you are earning £5k more!!

I have been working at IFDS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Nice people
Starting to develop to modern work practices.
Good transport links to work location
Plenty of people with years of experience

    Cons

Not a great deal of opportunity to progress
    Pay could be better.
Very blurred lines between confusing grades and who should do what in relation to job title

    Advice to Management

Simplify grade system to define roles better. E.g too many different job titles o the same grading.

I worked at IFDS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A Good stepping stone into better companies

    Cons

If your face doesn't fit you're getting no where
Management have a group who they like and are slowly promoting those people into positions such as coach, team leader and manger. Making this very much a group of friends.
It's very much like being st school. They decide they don't like people one at a time. Pick on them, blame them for things going wrong and overall work place bullying. The issue is there no on to go to. The are in senior management down.

    Advice to Management

    Stop promoting all your friends
The directors need to take s look at what's actually happening in the Stirling office.

I have been working at IFDS full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It's local and the money is hard to beat when you have been at the company for enough time which forces your hand to go to London if you want to leave to earn more money

    Cons

Where to I start... poor systems, poor management, no sense of direction, no respect for people who have worked here a lot of years. Salary is a big issue, there is huge disparity between managers promoted internally and those recruited externally, you get absolutely nothing for a lot of years service.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staff, particularly those who have been here a long time, those who remember IFDS when it was a fantastic company to work for. The way things are going you will continue to lose all of your best staff. You need to get rid of the bums on seats culture, you cannot replace someone of 10 years experience with a 14 year old school drop out.

    Pros

You can only get what you put in and the best part is room for progression is always available. The best choice I made after graduating

    Cons

As a third party company, certain areas such as wages are significantly affected as these are mostly depended on our clients and the relationships we have established. Other than that you will love this place!

    Advice to Management

So far so good, keep doing what you are doing it is working 👍

    Pros

Good place to build up your CV with experience on varied projects.

    Cons

    Low pay
    Management do not value employees
    High pressure
    Cliquey culture
    Antiquated IT systems
Expensive canteen with bad food which is not even subsidised. Even coffee has to be paid for!
Overtime and working late are frequent expectations without being properly rewarded. You have to work 5 hours extra for free before you are compensated!
Employees are generally not trusted such as with things like working from home.
Tall structure means lower level employees will struggle to get their voice heard and are generally ignored by senior management.

    Advice to Management

Award your staff appropriately and recognise hard work.
