I have been working at IFDS full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Motivated staff do very well and able for career progression

    Cons

Constantly competing with London salaries. Younger staff and newly qualified apprentices move off after their apprenticeship to London

I worked at IFDS full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Employees I worked with were great, we always look for improvement and look for challenge in new technology. A lot of good people with good vision.

    Cons

Senior management is absolute a joke. If they want to help their friends, they will just create a new position which is not necessary so they can have puppet to control. They recently make redundant with senior manager , telling everyone to keep quite about it. For over 10 years of services, no thank you just vanish! They are very tricky about how they charge clients and projects they just swap things around for fun.

Many senior managers get promoted but they have no idea what they are doing , lower position has to tell them what is going on and telling them what to do ( This is because they are not selected by experiences but they selected by how close they are with the senior management ) If you are pals to them, you will be fine concepts

Bully tactics - If you are against the senior management , they make sure your life at work is difficult. and if you start report this to HR, your secret won't save because they are friends! whatever you said, if will come back to bite you.

    Advice to Management

Hope the new DST management will have a better vision, find out , investigate into lower level and see what is actually going on. Why the company is going down. A lot of messages haven't been delivered. The communication gets lost along the way.

I worked at IFDS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are some great people there
Good potential to be a huge leading tech company
Offers good opportunity to be accredited in industry recognised qualifications

    Cons

    -High staff turnover
Management have 'in -groups' and anyone falling outside of that is never good enough. Limited inclusion in their culture
-very inward focused. Many people out for themselves only and so their culture is eating their strategy for breakfast

    Advice to Management

    - Stamp out inward focused culture. To go far, go together -not in silo's of the ones winning the popularity contests
-Improve your technology. There are smaller players now in the UK who will disrupt your industry and market share if you are too risk averse, unwilling and slow to respond [ learn from Uber and Metrobank]. Don't get caught out as these days in technology, its anybody's game .

I worked at IFDS full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Worked there for around 16 years, most of which were good, with long standing management, who mostly knew what they were doing and how to motivate staff, although the pay was not brilliant.

    Cons

There is a massive disparity in pay scales between different section within the company. It's also now more about bums in seats rather than having the correct people in right jobs.

    Advice to Management

Make sure the right people are in the right jobs, to ensure a smooth running business with less FTE

I have been working at IFDS full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-There are some great people at IFDS, I have made some friends for life, who I see regularly outside of work.
-With the apprenticeship, the qualifications you get NVQ & IOC are valuable if you want to progress, especially up to London.
-You will benefit from the great experience and a variation of clients and products.

    Cons

-Pay is a massive issue here and is one of the main reason people leave. If you're on the apprenticeship scheme you start on £12,500 and it goes up by about £1k every 6 months over an 18 month period.
    - The systems are a complete nightmare, IT department do not fix problems, they create workarounds which mean we lose customers to lack of competent systems.
    - Some of the management are inexperienced and have no idea about they are talking about, others are just plain rude (there are however exceptions to this rule).

    Advice to Management

-Pay more attention to your staff, most managers are very dismissive when it comes to helping and especially in situations with escalated complaint calls, no one wants to help!
    - Definitely, a better-structured pay structure as that's when people get annoyed when they find out someone doing the same job as you are earning £5k more!!

I have been working at IFDS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Nice people
Starting to develop to modern work practices.
Good transport links to work location
Plenty of people with years of experience

    Cons

Not a great deal of opportunity to progress
    Pay could be better.
Very blurred lines between confusing grades and who should do what in relation to job title

    Advice to Management

Simplify grade system to define roles better. E.g too many different job titles o the same grading.
