I have been working at IHS Markit full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Some depts are trying cutting edge technology for few products. If you are lucky you can get your hands dirty with these technologies and not one day will be similar to another. There are some very knowledgeble people you can learn from amongst others.

    Cons

Some contractors do play the stage more then do actual work and they dont care much about company values. Too much politics such as sometimes you feel things are not moving forward intentionally. Feels chaotic from time to time. No clear focus strategy and roadmap.

    Advice to Management

Empower more the permies as they do care more about the company. Mid/high level management in some areas need more training in understanding new technologies so they can impact more.

I have been working at IHS Markit full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Very few. Free coffee is about the only one I can think of.

    Cons

Depends on your Manager but generally no scope for career development. Initiative is not welcomed - do it their way, put up and shut up attitude. They seem to be making a fortune but rewards are not passed on to conscientious staff who have worked hard. Loyalty taken for granted.

    Advice to Management

Stop micro-managing and trust your employees to do their best and they will shine, given the chance, instead of stifling initiative and undermining people. At the moment any spark of enthusiasm is stamped out fairly sharpish. Put up and shut up attitude.

I have been working at IHS Markit full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-Brilliant place to come into once you have experience to back up your skills -Fantastic easy-to-approach CEO, regardless of your position -Ropemaker office is swanky, let down by poor canteen (not subsidized, contrary to the popular belief) -IT infrastructure is spot-on, great hardware resources, talented high caliber individuals, who are mostly very helpful -and demonstrate great care about their teams -Ability to communicate with different teams at worldwide level -Clear career progression, provided that you seek and demonstrate your desire to do so -Lucrative OT schemes -Great team spirit among departments (UK) -Relaxed atmosphere and casual Friday -Superb social life, paid volunteering days, events and access to private exhibitions and parties

    Cons

    - Some teams are overworked and underpaid - Conflict of interests are resolved by rank only - Some individuals (MD/Director level unfortunately) have 0 people skills and are clearly in the wrong job role - Some of the above individuals have a free-pass when it comes to lunch times and WFH, I do not see this being monitored at all - Compensation can be a sore subject, you don't ask - you don't get

    Advice to Management

    - Make canteen free or subsidize, staff deserve it ! (UK) -Acquisitions should be treated equally to staff who have joined original MarkIT, at the moment acquisitions are given top priority -Invest into technical training and courses, not in-house PowerPoint yawns -Provide clear compensation progression at different levels, an associate should not be able to earn more than a VP

    - Great opportunities to get involved in high level projects if you're proactive - Good social culture - Flat management structure makes everyone in the business approachable - Hard work is genuinely recognized

    Cons

    - A bit too much about who you know rather than how you perform - It pays well, but it's not a bank!

I have been working at IHS Markit full-time for less than a year

    Pros

good career progress. There are plenty of opportunities to advance within the company. The business outlook is optimistic, especially as we recently completed our IPO! Projects are generally interesting, you meet new people and work on solving challenging problems.

    Cons

Infrastructure support is somewhat unresponsive and the pension scheme is not very generous compared to other companies (4% only).

    Advice to Management

Improve your pension plan, especially as you are now a public company!
