    Pros

    Staff discount Weekly pay

    Cons

Uncaring attitude of management No way of progressing in store as manager had his favourites and Constantly broke the working time regulations - sometimes finishing at 8pm to go back in at 4 am the following morning. Unfair distribution of hours Manager proudly boastinghow many staff have left since he took over the managers job

    Advice to Management

Treat your staff with respect. A good manager earns the respect of staff not commands it

I have been working at Iceland Foods part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Staff discount, you can be yourself, you can learn all aspects of being staff, and there’s great potential to move up.

    Cons

You can find you either have far too many hours or not enough depending on staff availability. Can be spread thinly across the shop if there’s only a few staff in.

    Advice to Management

Hire more staff so we can give better service.

I worked at Iceland Foods full-time

    Pros

Good peer to peer support Staff discount

    Cons

You spend approximately 80% of your day filling shelves. Hard physical role. Boring menial tasks. Systems are antequated, glitchy and very time consuming. New IT systems are actually worse than the old ones. Role is process heavy, no room for creativity or innovation at store level, you are nothing but a small link on a long chain. Distribution network is poor, deliveries late almost daily which has a knock on effect...

    Advice to Management

Invest some money in your old, crumbling estate. Add some hours back into the business, it’s unsustainable in its current form and a lot of people are on the verge of a breakdown. Explains why the SM position has such a high level of turnover in the company. If you want to operate on Lidl/Aldi levels of labour, take a look at their systems/logistics operation and try to replicate - that’s why it works for them and...

I have been working at Iceland Foods full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Staff discount and reward gateway are nice perks.

    Cons

Im not sure where to start here! During my decade with the company the morale of staff has gradually deteriorated. There are too many problems to mention, but here are just a few. Wages- Stores are ridiculously understaffed. You do not have enough staff for people to run sections any more. I am supposed to run my section, keep it available, tidy during the day. In the morning I have to sort out a 300 case delivery,...

    Advice to Management

My main pet hate is the staff not being paid properly. Let us clock in and out so we get paid for what we work. Im sure you must have heard this before. Paying less than the national minimum wage is illegal, and that is what you are doing. Staff don't 'choose' to work over for free. But feel they have no choice. Please communicate to store managers that unpaid work is unacceptable. Treat managers a little less like robots...

I worked at Iceland Foods full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Staff discount, not a lot else

    Cons

Expected to work through breaks, expected to work over your hours for nothing, too much is expected of the few staff that work in stores now, cut backs on hours make it impossible to get the work done, impacts on customer availability, no work life balance due to long hours, no appreciation given , work hours changed with no consultation and at very short notice, expected to work New Years Day even when not open to do...

I have been working at Iceland Foods part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some of the staff are just amazing. Staff discount helps with the monthly shop.

    Cons

Some of the staff are just incompetent, the management make you stay until you have finished. Sometimes you may even be made to stay an hour later or longer. Get stabbed in the back by the management and other employees, you are just a number.

    Advice to Management

Respect the staff you have, and stop keeping staff late unless you will pay them.
