I have been working at Imperial College London full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of smart people and interesting things happening, good location.

    Cons

It's a big university, practically a big corporation disguised as an educational institute, and is thus very impersonal with you. Despite lots of big talk about life-balance, appropriate rewards and mental health, salaries are static and pressure is high. There's little chance of advancing inside, and the college is becoming increasingly dominated by Big Name professors and staff, lording it over the pool of people who actually do the work. Bad behaviour by higher staff is punished with a wristslap. But this is becoming typical of the top tier universities and I see little chance of it changing. I recommend any worker at ICL keep in mind what's in it for them and work towards that aim.
