Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookNo Opinion of CEOI worked at Imperial College London full-time for more than a year
Pros
Give food in meetings and when they make you work long inhumane hours.
Cons
-Very long hours. If you don't you will be looked down on. -Allergy and Immunology lab is the worst to work in, a lot of pressure of work. You would prosper better in other labs. -You will not be able to work on your own given project -The first authorship in this lab usually is very favourable as you are required to work in a team. Even if you do most of the work, it's very likely that someone else would get acknowledged. The PI of the lab works as a post-doc and treats post-docs as technicians. The professor is clueless about the lab as his eyes and ears are the PI. -Be very careful when you join this lab as the references may not help you in your next role.

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookNo Opinion of CEOI have been working at Imperial College London full-time for more than 3 years
Pros
Smart, committed people - PhD, Postdocs Friendly and sociable environment, though this is highly team / department dependent Opportunity to participate in public outreach and teaching (purely voluntary) Postdoc Development centre is offers many good training courses
Cons
Long hours Variable level of support when things go wrong (in research this happens all the time) Atrocious pay for skill and hours relative to all other sectors but academia Highly political leadership structure - affects promotions, project involvement, pay and ability to take credit for own work Low value of placed on current employees
