Pros

People care about others. Can give you a lot of responsibility early on in career. Gentle culture, even big mistakes are dealt with softly. Office based role straight from PhD. Fine if work is transactional for you and an equation of time in, money out. Diverse range of science backgrounds amongst colleagues. A good first job.

Cons

Stagnant R&D, slow paced, rigid, uninspiring and conservative culture. Company is struggling to diversify beyond declining lubricant and fuels markets, which are declining. Company lacks vision and direction from leadership. Incapable of bold action. Company suffers from navel-gazing and group-think. Colleagues lack diversity of prior experience - too many colleagues have only worked at Infineum. Mood in the company seems to have dropped significantly in the past year.

Pros

Good salaries, location and bonus scheme

Cons

Career progression is almost impossible unless you are "on the list" which most people aren't. There is no interest in whether line managers are any good and there are a lot that aren't. Too much money wasted on unimportant initiatives and paying consultants. No respect for work/life balance.

Pros

Some people are nice and there’s a good network

Cons

Progression as a chemist is more or less impossible. There are people in this company who have worked for over 9 years and are stuck in mundane chemist roles. If you have an ounce of ambition, probably best to avoid this place as it will stifle your growth.
