I worked at Inmarsat full-time (Less than a year)

      Pros

Flexible working hours, engaging and fun people to work with, subsidized canteen

      Cons

Gym is terrible small and cramped with not a lot of equipment, technology seems to not work which is bizarre for a technology company and a lot of talking but not much action.

      Advice to Management

Just because you feel entitled doesn't make you it. People will follow good leaders but you scheme and speak a lot of words but when it comes down to it you run away.

I worked at Inmarsat full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

Lovely people and it felt like a family.

      Cons

All the management that can make big decisions are based in the US and they don't understand the British culture or the office dynamics well enough to make informed decisions. When I first started there was a great and fun environment, there were lots of socials, and for the most part we were left to make decisions because they trusted our judgement. By the time I left there was a terrible atmosphere in the office. ...

      Advice to Management

Get your act together and pay a little attention to those at the bottom end of the ladder. You are not paying attention to those who dedicated their lives for this company.

I worked at Inmarsat full-time for more than 3 years

        Pros

Great people You can own something and become the subject matter expert as 9 time out of 10 your managers don't understand what your doing.

        Cons

Management is confused often managing an area they have no experience in. No recognition of talent and therefore no promotion until the person wants to leave and suddenly they offer you the world. There is a lack of direction because the managers are scurrying around trying to make it to the top.

        Advice to Management

Recognise good talent early and don't allow them to walk out the door before you realise the person is an asset and adds value. Have clear structure and a clear path way for those who want to grow. Flat structures are oppressive to growth and where a person doesn't see growth they will go elsewhere in search of it.

I worked at Inmarsat full-time (Less than a year)

        Pros

        - Great office location - Great benefits

        Cons

        - The role is titled "Technical Support", although it is not very technical at all. So was originally missold the position. In fact this is more of a first line, answer phone and emails job, you don't actually fix anything. - They ask for the applicants/engineers to have a CCNA. I don't actually know why, as you literally don't even touch the sides of it. For those that know, I NEVER once typed "conf t". - No clear...

        Advice to Management

        - Please be honest in the job description and interviews, just because people want to work for your company, does not mean they will want to stay there. - Stop looking at your employees as a number and one that can easily replaced, even if that is true.
