I have been working at InterContinental Hotels Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A fantastic culture with great, talented people.
An open and honest transparent culture.
A real commitment to invest in growing/developing people.
Flexibility in the work place for the right balance.
    Recognition for good work!
Fantastic events set up for employees and heaps to get involved in.

    Cons

As IHG is hugely matrixed, it can be harder and longer to get ideas and new ways of thinking over the line.
There are heaps of processes/procedures to get simple tasks done as anticipated for a global organisation.
Other than that - a fab place to work!

    Advice to Management

Carry on being open and honest - respect means a lot to employees.

I have been working at InterContinental Hotels Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Career opportunities, both domestic and international are incredible. IHG has a very clear purpose and bold ambitions, underpinned by the strong culture of a responsible and trustworthy business - both for employees, guests and owners. The employee culture promises 'Room to be Yourself' - recognition, growth, collaboration etc. which like all the best things at IHG, came from employees. In hotels and at corporate offices, the company truly listens to and cares about its employees.

    Cons

The company has historically been risk averse and in some respects slow to change, however there is a genuine ambition and momentum to becoming more agile and to simply make things easier to get done.

    Advice to Management

As IHG accelerates its growth and strives to become more agile, keep the employees at the heart of change.

Giving you the space to be yourself.

    Cons

    Line Managers shows favoritism.

    Advice to Management

Treat your staff well. Observe their hard work. Recognize. Reward. Notice. Lead by example. Come out of your ivory towers and know what actually goes on on the front line. Be connected to the real issues. Be visible. Be present. Get from behind the desk. Don't hide and appear to know what is going on. Treat your staff fairly and equally. Set aside personal preferences and value your staff according to their contribution. Treat your staff as well as your guests. Look after your staff and they will look after the business.
