I have been working at Intermountain Healthcare full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great coworkers. The surgeons and anesthesiologists are all great as well. Being attached to the University of Utah means you can go get Starbucks and treats.

    Cons

Working on kids can be hard, especially when you can’t fix them. Besides that... trying to get PTO fast is a problem. You get 4 hrs a paycheck if you’re lucky. Pay isn’t the greatest either. And Intermountain has taken all sugar out of all of the hospitals and replaced it with diet or sugar free drinks etc. I feel this is hard on family and children who are suffering or going through a lot. Sometimes you just need a... Coke or a Reese’s.

I have been working at Intermountain Healthcare full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work Life Balance is fantastic! Hardly have to go over hours Family-like department Great benefits

    Cons

Heavily biased/preferred are those with big four experience (PWC especially) Not a lot of opportunities for upward advancement

    Advice to Management

Clean house of those who don't put forth the time and effort. Plenty of people who do not honestly fill out their time card, who continue to submit sub-par work, and with terrible attitudes. This is a very small handful, but would improve morale, equity, and overall performance in the department.

I worked at Intermountain Healthcare full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Impacting the lives a patients in a non clinical sense. Creating ease during the worst moments of patients lives.

    Cons

micro managing to the amount of clicks a minute. No room for growth or moments in careers. Basically has turned into a medical conditioning sweat shop. You are expected to take on 30% more of processing in the same 8hrs, no OT. and if you don't meet those numbers just once in a quarter say good bye to your .25 cent performance raise.

    Advice to Management

You could probably save more money by investing in your employees and not driving them to the bone. there would be less billing mistakes and less turnaround. take care of your people. you need people to do this job...or just out source to India already.
