I have been working at J D Wetherspoon part-time for more than a year

    Pros

You make good friends, there are a few people that you get along with and makes work fun.

    Cons

If you make a mistake; or call in sick you will get picked on for months on end, managers will have a go at you if they see you standing still for one minute. Younger people in the pub get abused for weekend shifts, they put me on closes when I had no way home, there was a scandal in the pub where some staff were doing drugs at the staff party and because it was the group of boys/managers/ who are at the top it got brushed under the carpet. If your not in the group of men/managers then you will get treated like rubbish by authority. The big manager is rude and aggressive and unsympathetic towards young people

I have been working at J D Wetherspoon part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Free food on shifts longer than 6 hours meaning you never go hungry when working till late in the evening. It also has a friendly, social environment perfect for students and those new to the area.

    Cons

During busy periods workloads can become very stressful as you are required to collect plates and glasses whilst serving drinks and serving many large food orders.

    I worked at J D Wetherspoon part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Weekly pay is always a bonus, but management are always being told to cut hours, so sometimes there were people barley making enough to pay rent. If you were friendly with the manager of your pub would always mean you got a say in your hours etc

    Cons

Very little in the way of motivation to make you improve, expected to undertake what is generally an easy role that does not provide much satisfaction, thus a little encouragement or gratitude from management wouldn't go amiss
