I have been working at J D Wetherspoon part-time for more than a year

    Pros

You can meet some great regulars and individuals working within the pub trade. And, given that there's new pubs being opened annually, you have the chance to promote your position with semi experience and earn a little more.

    Cons

Trying to fit every single possible job onto an Associate for low pay and overall terrible morale. Cleaning and hovering at 6am, cleaning toilets, handling food, serving alcohol, cleaning and restocking the bar. Repeat cycle. Unhygienic that cross over cleaning duties with food and drink services, even with "gloves and sanitiser." Very stubborn to have more than a decent amount of staff working. Bare minimum; leaving...

    Advice to Management

Hire more. Hire more positions. Stop squeezing the life out of loyal staff before they move on and be replaced by another horde of unhappy people.

    I worked at J D Wetherspoon part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good atmosphere, team worked well together. Lloyds bars have a DJ so the pub is always upbeat and has good relationships with all customers, regulars are nice too. Very flexible with shifts. Ideal for people needing zero hours contracts

    Cons

Some customers very rude, little support from members of staff who are classed as 'higher up' than others. New staff get on the job training which can be at busy times which can provide poor service and disrupt service of others.

    Advice to Management

Train new staff on the job instead of basing it online with online tasks. Till training is essential for all, online shift programme should have been implemented months ago!

We appreciate you taking the time to leave a 4* review, thank you. Training is a fine balance and we agree that the majority of training should be on-job, supported by online tools.

    I worked at J D Wetherspoon full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The customers. Most do appreciate how hard you work! 50% off food on break. That's about it if I'm going to be honest.

    Cons

Shift swaps not allowed even if they can be covered, sometimes you don't get a break, intimidating management, you'll get spied on whilst working, little to no bonuses, no incentives

    Advice to Management

    Gain some basic people skills
