    I worked at J D Wetherspoon full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Flexible Hours, Hours readily available if you're needing the cash.

    Cons

Heavily leaned on if you're paid by the hour, the salary managers love to rub it in 'at least you're paid for overtime'

    Advice to Management

Delegate all tasks, even the office / preventative maintenance. Don't use your hourly DM's as an excuse to 'do office work' all shift.

    I worked at J D Wetherspoon full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good starting salary Attainable bonus monthly/quarterly Clear Progression Worked with and met some fantastic people. Food and drink discounts both on shift and in personal time.

    Cons

Selling your life Training not great Long hours Stressful work Often understaffed Senior management spend too much time hiding in office ''working'' rather doing what they are paid to in managing people and the venue. Also felt that there is a bit of of club where by if you are not in it then you are a true outsider. I found that as management changed they were pushing out old staff to bring friends in to... create an ecosystem that suited them.

    Advice to Management

Not enough time developing talent to see people excel. Far too much just pushing people in a direction and expecting them to take everything in and be a vat of knowledge that makes zero mistakes. Far too much time with people ringing you up in free time asking things or asking you to cover because the amount of people going on the sick with stress related illness is ridiculous. So better training so people can do... their jobs correctly, better support on site or online for people for both personal and professional issues that may arise to keep the workforce happy and functioning.

    Pros

    Good pay good bonus.

    Cons

This company turns a blind eye to bullying it wants to bread a certain type of manager. As a manager myself I have witnessed bullying harresment discrimination it's ride through the company and they egnore it. Head office don't car the area managers don't care as long as the money is rolling in. If your face fits you will be fine if it don't they will manage you out I have seen this done to so many and I can't take... it anymore.

    Pros

Free shares, control your own training, flexible with hours, structure, bonuses, you don't have to be robotic, you're encouraged to show your personality

    Cons

Sometimes work load can be too much, low staff levels, schedule is always changing so you don't always know when you are working which makes it hard to have that work life balance

    Advice to Management

Promote a shift leader for every duty manager and buddy them up to improve strength on shift
