    Pros

If you have no experience. If you have no qualifications. Don't even need to speak English. You got yourself a minimum wage 0 hour contract job. There's loads of bonuses that come with the job such as pay, hours, social life, progression, a real employees company where the employees voices are heard via Tell Tim. What am I writing? The only pro your going to get is a 50% discount whilst on shift for microwaved...

CQSMA's. The holy grail, your pub managers will grind this into your heads that failing to meet the target will basically lead to you loosing your job. Even if you get the required amount for a bonus, don't expect to get it. ROTA. You'll be lucky to have a rota which is actually followed. Your Rotas will be put up Sunday 10pm and will have changed come Monday 7am and they will never be correct because updating the ROTA...

    Advice to Management

Too many good staff members leave pubs because they are not looked after. Too many idle lazy managers who make far too many mistakes and blame others. Culture of fear if you go against Wetherspoons. IT systems are 5 years out of date. Management are hit or miss, mostly miss and these need to be sorted. Pay your staff that are below management living wage for running your pubs whilst management sit in the office twiddling...

    I worked at J D Wetherspoon part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Lot of hours available Free meal on shift Colleagues and pub managers were great Take on a lot of young staff giving them a start Worked around college hours Okay bonuses Good promotion oppertunities

    Cons

The company is profit hungry and will short staff as much as possible Working conditions are not great- getting a full break uninterrupted is impossible Badly designed bar layouts Very unsociable hours Shift leader pay is terrible since you're basically performing a shift managers role (opening and closing the pub on your own) It could be extremely busy but you're only selling cheap pints so the pub is considered...

    Advice to Management

Care more about staff Fixing the short staffing issues- it turns customers away and makes staff hate the job Replace upper management Cheap prices means a rough clientele so security staff are needed Pay shift leaders and shift managers more for the work they put in

    I worked at J D Wetherspoon full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great colleagues, a lot of hours to be had if wanted, easy job. Bonuses for achieving targets.

    Cons

Unsociable hours - 6am start, late finishes. I do feel as do shift leaders deserve a euro or so more an hour considering how much is demanded of them. There are other cons like being understaffed at times, however I understand the company needs to reduce hours to safe money so in the grand scheme of things it doesn't bother me.

    Advice to Management

Given the nature of the work/industry and how much the company is willing to do for it's staff there are very few improvements I could make.
