I have been working at J D Wetherspoon part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

50% discount on food and drinks while at work, 20% when not. I found my salary to be a few pennies higher than people's one working in a similar job .

    Cons

The customers in a cheap priced pub are not always the nicest. Very physical job, you'll be required to stand most of the time and it could be very tiring after long shifts.

    Advice to Management

give more gratification for their work to people working hard. Try to retain the good employees and consider increasing the wage when increasing the job tasks. most of my colleagues are very unhappy with the "i-orders".

      Pros

Good people most of the time Bonus can be good Easy to progress if you want Employee discount on food and drink Can transfer across the country

      Cons

Bonus is dependant on everyone pulling their weight Hours all over the place Getting rotas ahead of time is a challenge Rotas change all the time Expected to do more then your job title entails

      Advice to Management

Don’t treat the ones who do all the work badly and ensure people are doing there job

      I worked at J D Wetherspoon part-time for less than a year

      Pros

Weekly pay Decent hours Friendly enough staff 50% off food when working 20% off food and drinks out of work

      Cons

They treat the staff like crap!, They don’t respect you and your time, You never leave on time!, You get shifts taken away without explanation, You have to give 6 weeks holiday notice, You can not have a day off even if you ask in advance, You have to take a day off as holiday forcefully, You lose holiday days without being told When you’re on a close you can leave as late as 3am and it’s unclear if you even get paid...

      Advice to Management

Treat staff better, Give them better information, Work with them in terms of days off, Treat every single person the same! Do not treat non white people different to the next person, it’s highly unprofessional and racist!

I have been working at J D Wetherspoon full-time for more than a year

        Pros

        - Team members are generally friendly - Music is allowed in the kitchen (this wasn't the case in all the kitchens I have worked in previously) - Get a 20% discount on food and drink outside of working hours and a 50% discount on food during working hours

        Cons

        - The job gets repetitive after a while - Very little in the way of healthy eating on the menu - Bar staff errors can reflect badly on kitchen staff - Working shifts as opposed to set rota's leaves little time for routine or hobbies

        Advice to Management

        Improve communication
