I have been working at J D Wetherspoon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Free management feeding on clock
20% off food + drink off clock
Good bonus and training a chemes
    Fast progression

    Cons

    Often working over rota hours
Always seem understaffed / high staff turnover

    Advice to Management

Increase the off duty discount of 20% and reduce the price of on duty staff drinks. Many other companies offer better discount rates - if not free drinks for staff!

Area managers to come in occasionally and work at pub level to really understand what it’s like trying to manage shifts within their parameters (I know head office used to do this)

    Positive Outlook

    I worked at J D Wetherspoon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Very flexible working approach
    Something different every day
Decent pay for bar work (terrible tips though)
Shares and bonuses to add to basic pay
Work with a wide variety of people
50% discount on shift, 20% off shift

    Cons

    Unsociable hours
    Disorganised management
    Understaffed quite often
    High staff turnover rate
    No bank holiday pay rate

    Advice to Management

Be more organised, rotas should be distributed three weeks in advance and seldom were.
Increase staffing levels as service and morale suffers with understaffing.

    I have been working at J D Wetherspoon full-time

    Pros

    Good staff discount .
    Good rate of pay

    Cons

Short staffed due to only caring about profit
    High staff turnover
Breaks not long enough for the hours worked
Stuck at shift leader level as noone to be promoted to in area ...so doing same job as other management for less pay and i work more alot more hours than them

    Advice to Management

If your going to tell people that working up the ladder is fast and training will be in place then make sure thats what happens ...if noone is given hours to learn from somebody when an AM or higher comes in and asks questions you just look stupid . Im currently looking for other companys to work for because of this
