I have been working at J D Wetherspoon part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

20% off food and drink whilst not at work
50% off food and drink during shifts
    E-Learning

    Cons

Long hours, and don't always get your breaks. You could easily work 12 hours and only get a 45 min break for the whole shift. Closing shifts, you never know what time you will actually finish. Rotas are meant to be done in 3 weeks of advance, but never are and can change literally that day or the day before your shift.

    Advice to Management

No communication with a higher member of staff. Would be nice if rotas were done every 3 weeks in advance and ask beforehand if there is a shift change is person can do it, rather than assume they can.

I have been working at J D Wetherspoon full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

This pub company is great to work for if you decide to put the work in for yourself. Over many years I have seen associates put the work in who are now managers.
If you think working in a Wetherspoon pub is easy think again, you have to adaptable and hard working, if you want an easy life of pouring pints and chatting to the regulars, look at working in your local boozer.
The way the company is structured to push its people forward is one of the best I can think of

    Cons

Can be long hours at times, but eased by the team you work with.
Shifts for mates, eg friends of the manager can lead to better rotas and not always for the better of the pub/business

    Advice to Management

Look at what managers are actually working compared to what they should be working. Use the expertise you have around the company to help drive the business forward, from outside the company and experience from employees
