Good starting salary, huge bonus potential, 40 hours/week contracted, shifts well in advance or set yourself, all the benefits of working for a big company

    Pros

Staff discount on food and drink when on and off duty. 50% and 20% Bonuses for all potentially Free food for staff on shift over 6 hours.

    Cons

Promises of 2 consecutive days off- never happens Promises of 1 weekend off per month = never happens. Promises of a 40 hour week, often have to work more than that! Not a great work life balance considering above issues.

I have been working at J D Wetherspoon full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I personally enjoy the job, it's nothing fancy but it can lead to a career with high pay if this industry is for you. The job itself is simple but can be stressful if it's busy or other members of staff don't contribute. Lots of overtime. Better than minimum wage pay, not much better though.

    Cons

Often times there are shifts that are so short there's almost no point and other times incredibly long shifts with no pattern, so not great for a work life balance. often times while busy i do need to leave my break and either leave early or get paid the difference.

    I worked at J D Wetherspoon full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Social job, rewarded when working hard, opportunities to travel, pub-to-pub transfers, (mostly) friendly coworkers, flexible to you, good for working parents, Guaranteed Minimum Hours are kept to (I would recommend to a friend that is willing to work hard)

    Cons

Progression can be difficult depending on PM/AM, unsociable hours, managers not fully trained before running their own shifts, team leaders not used to their full potential, kitchen and bar are very separate, (should be working together more often) cross-train more staff, no work/life balance, thank-less job, understaffed more often than overstaffed, 6 weeks notice for any holiday, used and abused over festive periods and hours are then cut come January
