I worked at J.P. Morgan full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Open working culture where questions and new ways of working are encouraged Management were supportive of development opportunities Colleagues were mostly helpful and supportive

    Cons

It can be difficult to progress work across departments as it is such a large & complex organisation Some staff seem to be there for the compensation and are that not interested in the work Management structures across the business i.e. operations & product can make it difficult for teams to work together, and differing priorities can make it hard to work towards the same company goals

I have been working at J.P. Morgan full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Glasgow office is being changed culturally to look and feel more as a real hub of innovation and excellence. Money is good but not amazing. Technology could be new or very old. This is hugely depending on the team and system. A lot of nice people on Glasgow but also technical level is not cutting edge. Same for overall competency. Again it varies dramatically. Hours are generally 9-5ish.

    Cons

Quite bureaucracratic still. Slow progression due to weird promotion process - every two years. Politics is definitely a thing and organization is huge. Things just feel a bit slow overall with bursts of development.

I have been working at J.P. Morgan full-time for more than a year

    Pros

After 2.5 years at JP Morgan, I've had one of the best starts to a career for someone of my age. I joined as a graduate in the EMEA Operations and Business Services Graduate Scheme and rose quickly, got great recognition, support, mentoring opportunities (receiving and giving!) and have learnt a hell of a lot very quickly

    Cons

Being such a massive institution, the company can be hard to navigate and people who have worked here for years can have a narrow way of looking at business change that makes it hard to influence decisions

I have been working at J.P. Morgan full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Plenty of opportunity to learn and grow. Flat hierarchy, open door policy. Functions very much like it’s own technology entity.

    Cons

Can be bureaucratic at times, requiring red-tape and sign-offs as expected in a bank. Workload demanding, steep learning curve, requiring additional time spent

I worked at J.P. Morgan full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Very professional environment. You need to ask to work on something you like. For someone interested in business use of technology, it is a very good place.

    Cons

It is a financial company at the end of the day, so if you are a hard core technology person, I wouldn't recommend it.
