    Advice to Management

    Be available to listen to your colleagues when they have an issue. Mental health training would be good too as too many disabled employees are being treated unfairly. Stop re-employing those who have left and returned into promotional positions promised for others.
    Boost morale and stop taking away bonuses, overtime and seasonal parties. This is needed to keep morale up in departments.

    I worked at J Sainsbury part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Pay is slightly above minimum wage.
    Fixed contracted hours with many opportunities for overtime.
    Discount card after a few months.
    Some team leaders are lovely (but not all).

    Cons

    Training on the checkouts is quite brief, you learn the more complicated things while actually doing it, when your all alone with an actual customer. But some team leaders expect you to know everything. It can take months to learn everything as you might not have been asked for that specific thing until that time.
    It can be extremely difficult to get a team leader to come over and help, as the button never seems to do anything and sometimes they are not there and sometimes you have to shout the length of the store to get their attention. Customers can take their frustration then out on you.

    Advice to Management

    Make sure these buttons actually work (do the team leaders even look?)
    Choose team leaders more wisely
    Support staff more when it comes to difficult customers.
    When contracts ends, make sure the manager talks to the employee not the supervisor/team leader who hasn't got a clue. Very unprofessional.

    Wage was decent
    Overtime readily available
    Paid holidays
    3% bonus every year
    10% discount card once you've been there for atleast 6 months

    Cons

    Management was a joke
    Team leaders and supervisors had their favourites
    Customers always came first they couldn't care less about the staff
    No flexibility even for mothers and students

    Good pay, 4 pay rises in the 2 year i've worked there, good holidays especially if you're part time and do lots of overtime

    Cons

    monotone job and not much flexibility in shift or time off

    Advice to Management

    try to have a more flexibility in the shifts to work, such as easier to have shift swaps

    Pros

    The staff are friendly, they're flexible with hours and the pay is good. 10% discount which is also good

    Cons

    Sitting down on a till for long periods can cause back ache but there is no major cons

    Check out team leaders could be more on the ball

    Lovely, super friendly and helpful collegues

    If you are sick, it buggers them off. Favoritism from managers. Ridiculous targets. Immense pressure. Massive workload.

    Advice to Management

    Change your sickness policy, I haven't even had my return to work from the third absence this year and I'm already having a disciplinary hearing meeting!

    Good hours with a lot of overtime available. Benefits include 10% discount which raises to 20% at certain points in the year.

    Cons

    Working on checkouts does mean that sometimes left in cigarette kiosk for up to four hours at a a time
