    Advice to Management

Extend the overtime budget instead of over-hiring

I have been working at J Sainsbury part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent hourly pay to say what the job entails. Not a bad working environment friendly staff and management. Good job if wanting something part time whilst having other commitments, management were very accommodating to me whilst studying at uni, they allowed me to have days off for studying etc

    Cons

Customers are rude, but can only expect from any customer service environment. Not really much of else to say about cons

I have been working at J Sainsbury as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Uniform Provided
Flexible Working hours if desired (in my experience)
    Opportunity for Overtime
    Discount Card

    Cons

Very customer driven without always considering the worker.
Short on staff just falls on the colleagues left who have to pick up the extra work with no extra incentive.
    Can be boring

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staff a bit more!!!

    Pros

Good benefits: staff discount at Sainsbury's and Argos stores- holiday pay- sick pay- overtime- pension- options to buys stocks.

    Cons

Sales driven, at times customer satisfaction was put before that of staff. Dirty staff canteen and toilets definitely not up to the same standard and customer toilets. Overtime hours canceled on short notice, cutbacks on hours recently and staff who leave are not being replaced leading to shortages.

    Advice to Management

Although it is the service industry- you must be loyal to staff. Pay rises need to be more substantial taking into account the length of service of members of staff.

I have been working at J Sainsbury full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good staff and friendly atmosphere generally amongst colleagues. We all tend to help eachother out with any difficulties. Generally a flexible place to work. On my department you can start as early as 5am or finish as late as 10pm.

    Cons

Very restricted on overtime after Christmas due to cutting on hours to the point of some people having to take unpaid leave. Some managers can take their stress out on you and can be petty.

    Advice to Management

Try to spread out workload evenly amongst colleges as some people put in more effort than others and so get made to do more while others can be more laid back which is unfair and leads to high stress levels

I worked at J Sainsbury full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Always had set hours, good holidays, friendly staff to work with, your shift always goes in fast.

    Cons

Could be more organised when it comes to organising staff when it comes to being short staff, management could encourage staff more instead of being doom and gloom.

    Advice to Management

Treat the staff with a little more respect, listen to them, not to look down noses at other staff. Not to be so doom and gloom.
