    Be realistic in your expectations.
Work life balance and recognition is not a lot to ask for.

I worked at J Sainsbury full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Reasonably good work-life balance, pay was good and generally a feel good factor in most stores. Good holiday entitlement, sick pay and a great bonus to work towards.

    Cons

The food retail industry is dog eat dog which piles pressure on everyone. Was made to feel like we were saving lives, at times, when really all we were doing was putting beans on a shelf.

    Advice to Management

I understand the need to remain focused but this needs to be kept in perspective

    Pros

Overall and generally the company is very good but not the bad store/deputy managers.

    Cons

You work mostly like a colleague with long unsociable hours including weekends and bank holidays. London regional 8 worst area in the company to work for. They lack respect to each other and very quick to give out disciplinary without understanding first the real issue or problem. Its the blame game with no accountability.

    Advice to Management

All senior, store and deputy managers stop being aggressive to departments managers.
