    I worked at J Sainsbury full-time

    Pros

Big organisation, good structure, good team

    Cons

Lots of details got lost and mixed up in the senior management system. I feel this may have been unique and not a common trend given that the store I worked at was brand new but it made the job slightly more difficult to do.

I have been working at J Sainsbury full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You are allowed to just get on with your work without any form of micro management. Lots of opportunity to progress

    Cons

Can feel a little soulless when you work for a large company. You might have a handful of colleagues that you talk to regular in a friendly way but other than that, you are relatively isolated, in comparison to smaller companies.

    Advice to Management

You are going in the right direction but make your staff feel more comfortable in the office. The office is clean and tidy but very rigid and not comfortable really. Canteen is rubbish. We can do better than that.

    I worked at J Sainsbury part-time

    Pros

Wage is great. Get plenty of opportunities to do overtime. E.g. I was contracted to come in on three days a week (12 hours a week), but some weeks I did overtime of up to two/three days. People I worked with were great (depends on your store though I guess).

    Cons

Personally, I worked very unsociable hours (4am to 8am), so the only downside was these early shifts. Personal problem for me was, as with any laborious job such as this, standing on your feet all day and lifting heavy products did give me back pains. This wasn't so noticeable during my four hour shifts, but when I shifted to eight hour shifts, I could definitely notice it then! Although, as said before, wage for part-timers/students is great compared to previous jobs I've had before.

    Advice to Management

I've heard a lot of bad things about management in other sainsbury's stores, and this is due to lack of presence etc (I could go on) - but I think you'll always have a problem of getting a few bad eggs, with the good ones. The managers in my store though, were great! Tried their best with what they had.
