I have been working at J Sainsbury part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Free uniform, reliable pay, reasonable working conditions. 10% staff discount in Argos as Sainsbury owns it.

    Cons

Clocking in system can be a pain. Managers don't recognise your contribution to the company. 10% staff discount could be better as it's an expensive supermarket to shop in.

    Advice to Management

The focus should not just be on good customer service, staff need recognition too.

I worked at J Sainsbury part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

10% Discount, extra discount at certain times of the year from 15% to 20%. Some great people to work with and made lifelong friends

    Cons

Long Hours, horrible shifts, not appreciated

    Advice to Management

When you have people who have worked for your company for over 18 years, then a little appreciation at times may be required. Changed all management, then staff left and the new people they got in did nothing but sit on their backsides..needed structure, management and training. But when you work in the petrol station I did, not even the store manager ever came over. No one takes and interest, like being on your own little island.

I have been working at J Sainsbury part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good company values and flexible shifts around college/university.

    Cons

Sometime experience can be dependant on the store you work at. Some produce a relaxed and improved work place.

I worked at J Sainsbury part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Floor & warehouse staff nice

    Cons

Over the top. Constantly pushing staff to meet targets when some of the expectations are impossible. Left doing work managers should be doing. If your friendly with managers then your treated better. If your disabled your disability isn’t taken into consideration of what you are capable of physically. Made to feel like your never good enough. Some staff but mainly managers & supervisors make rude comments about customers when they walk away.

    Advice to Management

Stop over working you disabled staff and think about what is really possible for staff to achieve during their shifts especially part time shifts

I worked at J Sainsbury as a contractor

    Pros

£8 an hour better than minimum wage.

    Cons

Got everything wrong when joining the company eg: couldn't get my details on the system for 2 days, clock in number wouldn't work fir 5 days, pay was wrong every time. Because I was Christmas staff I wasn't on the rota until a week before Xmas so didn't have a clue what I was working. Staff ignored Xmas staff would talk most of the time while Xmas staff done the work. Rubbish line manager, never saw her on the department (GM department)

    Advice to Management

I know we are just Xmas temps but I think we should be tret the same as your permanent staff. Bit of respect and gratitude goes a long way.

I worked at J Sainsbury part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good colleagues made the work easier than necessary. Also good work night outs. Many skills that can be taught and learnt on the job.

    Cons

For a bunch of adults working there, way too much pettiness in the politics. They expect you to give up everything even your days off to come in to work. Work was tedious and extremely frustrating. Made to work long hours with just one break per day, whilst maintaining good customer service.

    Advice to Management

Realise that it’s Sainsbury’s and no one really wants to work there if not for financial problems. Therefore the workload should be reduced
