I worked at JD Sports Fashion part-time

    Pros

Fun environment, get to know new people, you get to see new shoes, get paid weekly, you can reserve shoes or clothing

    Cons

Long hours, sometimes it’s very difficult to be aware of your shift hours, pay isn’t that bad but could be better, customers, if you’re working on clothes you’ll probably stay late, lack of training when you’ve just started, must stare at customers that look suspicious and not enough time to complete sections.

    Advice to Management

I started in September and got kicked out without warning or any misconduct problem around December. They stopped giving me hours and I asked the main manager that I don’t know why my name is not present anymore, he said he would call me back. Few weeks after, they’ve sent me a P45 saying I’ve left the job, when? The company should hire good managers that know what they’re doing. Invest in training people don’t leave it until the end

I worked at JD Sports Fashion full-time

    Pros

Weekly pay, 4 days off after every 4 days of working, some of the workers are cool to work with, permanent hours of work every week.

    Cons

Expected to work like a machine during shift; you better not be standing around when it's quiet but the supervisors can sit on their backsides all day, basic stingy wage from a company worth billions in the sports game, you are just another number, no respect, a lot of snitching goes on, a lot of workplace bullying from management, no opportunity to progress unless you're a supervisors pet.

    Advice to Management

Get your supervisors to do some work rather than stand around like gargoyles staring down at workers from high platforms. Open more opportunities for progression to everybody not just "special" workers. Thank the teams for their work at the end of every day to make them feel valued for their time and effort.

I have been working at JD Sports Fashion (More than a year)

    Pros

Very easy to progress subject to senior management liking you however the culture is not condsive to a healthy work life balance

    Cons

Many of the managers have been with the business since their teens and have no idea how the corporate environment outside of JD really works

    Advice to Management

Not everyone is built to working a million hours a week without breaking at some point, actually listen to staff as opposed to treating them as if they do not matter
