I worked at Janssen full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Ethical company. Flexible working for some roles; active training and development department. Good products. Janssen is part of J&J. a very large organisation, so there are opportunities for cross- movement between different parts of Janssen and other J&J companies.

    Cons

Too process-driven, much too much emphasis on KPIs; slow to adapt to changing working environment. Too many reporting spreadsheets.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees & do not put as much emphasis on KPIs - instead focus on what individuals are good at, ie building relationships with the right customers instead of seeing people just to 'tick a box' . Please employ business managers who truly want to manage people, rather than using a management role as as step up their own career ladder, resulting in yet another new manager after a just a year or two. I have been working at Janssen full-time

      Pros

Wonderful culture with a huge focus on collaboration. a lot of autonomy, trust and support given to employees.

      Cons

A lot of regulation (as you'd expect in pharma) and as it's such a large organisation, decisions can be slow.

      I worked at Janssen full-time

      Pros

Great for parents and the elderly. Lots of flexibility for work life balance which attracts longevity. Encourage staff to stay by tying them into share options over years of service.

      Cons

Job protection causes bullying/ harassment and undermining staff which is disappointing to see when the credo is brandished as a leadership imperative. Students employed to do jobs they have not been trained to do because they are considered inconsequential activities with long lasting process failures. Saying thanks through monies is about who you know not what you have done.

      Advice to Management

Janssen employ highly skilled staff.... use the skills, don’t pigeon whole individuals.

      Cons

      - At times feel I could have been given a little more responsibility - High Wycombe is not the most attractive place to live for placement students!

      Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to push placement students a little more in terms of responsibility of projects especailly as the year progresses.
