I worked at Jessops full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Working with like minded people.

    Cons

Low pay. Managers expect you to do the roles of a salaried job. Never any stock to sell. Horrible retail job. Contract is full to the brim with silly policies and clauses that trap you.

I have been working at Jessops part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Being around people that are always passionate about photography - you know you're going to get along with your colleagues!

    Cons

The pay is awful. This is very far from a normal retail job - you're expected to be photographer, print expert, sales person camera repair person on top of everything you'd expect from a normal retail job, all for minimum wage.

I have been working at Jessops full-time

    Pros

-If you're passionate about photography or film but like many young, over-qualified are struggling to find your way in the world and are having to turn towards retail, then Jessops could be for you! -No day is the same which keeps the work interesting. -There's room for quick progression within the company. -You meet lots of people with similar interests. There are opportunities to speak with professionals who visit your store. -You have the opportunity to partake in Jessops courses for free.

    Cons

-An over-reliance on corporate values means that Jessops sadly falls short in customer service. -The company operates on bare bones staff, which often means you will find yourself lone trading 8 hour days if you work in the smaller Sainsbury based stores. You are not permitted to take breaks during this period. -Minimum wage which is poor considering the amount of work you put and the specialist knowledge you provide.

  6. "Great place to work - team leaders and managers were brilliant"

    I worked at Jessops

    Pros

Really great people make quiet evening much more bearable. No division with leadership. Manager was brilliant, flexible/ understanding and ran the store well. Recognised and praised for doing something well. Get to try out all the cameras. No pressure on sales targets - everyone wants the store to do well, nobody gets angry if you have a few bad sales days

    Cons

Quite a bit of standing around especially on closes. Get the impression other stores are much more target focused. Outdated systems left over from old company need to updated, they break down often and everything gets a bit stressful if its busy when they do. £6.50 isn't great pay when people need to support families - this is more of a general retail issue though.

    Pros

The company invests a lot in training which is very effective and tend to follow a certain procedure to get the best results possible.

    Cons

Were way too pushy with targets that creates a very negative atmosphere amongst the staff members.

I have been working at Jessops part-time

    Pros

Very good job for people looking to gain more experience in sales, or with an interest in film and photography

    Cons

\some times, there can be a large volume of customers compared to the amount of staff, which can lead to long queues, small amounts of space and less time for each customer
