      Generally Good

      Pros

Being around people that are always passionate about photography - you know you're going to get along with your colleagues!

      Cons

The pay is awful. This is very far from a normal retail job - you're expected to be photographer, print expert, sales person camera repair person on top of everything you'd expect from a normal retail job, all for minimum wage.

      Pros

Great customer interaction and colleagues are great.

      Cons

Expected to do far too much for next to no pay. Pressured sales job on national minimum wage. Really?!

      Great Staff, Terrible management

      Pros

      Some great people work there

      Cons

Terrible management both at store and national level. Minimum wage despite the fact all employees are expected to learn about every camera that is sold.

      High pressure, minimum wage, sales.

      Pros

Good selection of cameras Get to meet customers who work professionally as photographers Colleagues were supportive of one and other Job is varied from sales, fixing cameras and working in photo lab Nice regular customers, who appreciate service Get to learn about cameras and photography tips from staff Flexible hours during term time

      Cons

Too much pressure to sell warranties with ZERO incentive. My supervisor only got paid £1 more than me an hour, but has to manage shop by themselves as manager is rarely in store. Camera hardware sales are seen as meaningless unless you sell a warranty with it. Only chance of wage rise is if minimum wage goes up, regardless of how long you've been with company, and even if you hit your target each month. No sales training offered at monthly review even if you ask for it No wage increase even once you're fully lab trained (I wasn't but the lab manager worked on minimum wage) High turnover of staff, reviews were used to give staff warnings about their job.

      Long hours, low pay

      Pros

You get to meet interesting people. Money off cameras and accessories. Free printing service when the managers off. Staff have similar interests in photography.

      Cons

Very long hours for minimum wage. Zero hours contracts as well. Boring work day when few customers come in. No phones allowed at all for the lower employees. Head office and the web team are completely useless and the sales assistants are the ones who get to deal with the complaints. Always being told to boost sales and add ons which is incredibly hard when no customers come through the door.

As retail goes, there are worse companies to work for.

      Pros

-If you're passionate about photography or film but like many young, over-qualified are struggling to find your way in the world and are having to turn towards retail, then Jessops could be for you! -No day is the same which keeps the work interesting. -There's room for quick progression within the company. -You meet lots of people with similar interests. There are opportunities to speak with professionals who visit your store. -You have the opportunity to partake in Jessops courses for free.

      Cons

-An over-reliance on corporate values means that Jessops sadly falls short in customer service. -The company operates on bare bones staff, which often means you will find yourself lone trading 8 hour days if you work in the smaller Sainsbury based stores. You are not permitted to take breaks during this period. -Minimum wage which is poor considering the amount of work you put and the specialist knowledge you provide.

no customers came to the store Under paid on my last month there was being watched by head office because the store was always empty because it was in a really bad place Manager would turn up when he wanted and pretend it was normal Was given managerial privileges like key holder and store opening yet was on minimum wage Manager would leave 2 hours early because "I had a car and he had to get the train home) Was told to cut piercing out my body because they did not like it THE COMPANY HAEMORAGES MONEY
