Current Employee - Assistant Manager in Reading, England

I have been working at KPMG full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

+ Working with a team of like-minded professionals who take pride in the work they perform + Range of clients and challenges

    Cons

    - Working hours can be long and difficult to manage with deadlines. Linked to this is that it seems the company is short-staffed

    Advice to Management

There needs to be better communication of recruitment activities and clearer recognition of hard work put in by high performers.

I have been working at KPMG full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Positive and helpful work culture Competitive salary Lots of opportunities to get involved in new projects and experience different sectors Modern office environment (Canary Wharf) and good food options which are part subsidised.

    Cons

Terrible internal systems for finance, resource/holiday management and... well, most things. Creates lots of processes and issues that impact efficiency. Everything is eventually made more difficult, not easier. Rules and regulations relating to advisory practices are enforced throughout the business regardless of how relevant they are to you.

    Advice to Management

Focus on simplifying and shortening tasks, not creating new processes to solve issues. Resource and holiday management is like something out of the early 90's - there are a huge number of software solutions that would be infinitely better than the bizarrely manual processes being used.
