Pros

-Great flexibility when it comes to taking time off and a great deal of time off given. -Many employees do genuinly want to help the public. -Job Security (you may take a pay cut or have to move into a different job, but it is very unlikely that you will lose your job outright).

Cons

-Pay raises are solely awarded based on time with the county. Every year or so you will get a pay raise unless you did a terrible job. There is no reason to go above and beyond other than to fight for the limited promotion opportunities. Pay tops out after a certain point as well. -Favortisim runs rampant in upper management. -County treats employees as expendable. Why offer more pay or incentives when there are other people willing to take the job; those people aren't qualified but they'll do in a pinch. -Entitlement among all levels of employees is huge.
