Everything seems too good to be true... because it is
Pros
Everyone is super nice and friendly when you are interviewing, it's as if everyone wants to be your best friend and wants you to succeed as much as possible. The company is filled with highly talented individuals and is very competitive within the industry (HRM, Revel, etc). New people are hired pretty much every week. Sometimes the company will offer you a free piece of fruit in the lunch room. The building is decently clean and organized. You get two 15 minute breaks each day. The warehouse is nice and open so you can see what other departments are working on, it makes the company feel more connected and together.
Cons
To start, the place is like a revolving door, not many people stay long for a reason. Once you are initially hired, or even promoted after some time, the friendliness and positivity fades fast. Managers are hyper-critical of every move you make and thing you say, don't dare make any suggestions or critiques because you might get in trouble for not blindly following the pack. You lose your own voice and will slowly lose motivation and personal creativity when they reject your ideas without consideration. You may be in a creative position, but you have to strictly abide by the company's unique vision of creativity. The company doesn't care for their employees, only the profit margins on their events. Regardless of your position, you have to work on site. This is fine, fair, and to be expected (and sometimes fun!), but it turns bad if they find out you have skills they deem to be helpful onsite because they will milk every hour out of your life. They have nap rooms for a reason, many people that do a lot of the onsite work end up sleeping at the warehouse or napping in between illegally-long (sometimes break-less) shifts. You're lucky if they don't burn you out within the first year with the workload and hours alone, not to mention they manage to find every way to cut your overtime hours so you don't benefit nearly as much as you think you will. They go off of hours in each department, so if you are nearing 40hrs in one department, they will have you switch to a different department so you rarely get overtime, even if you work over 40hrs in one week. Sneaky and sketchy, not to mention a safety concern for people working the machinery and equipment. Management is secretive about everything, even the trajectory of your own position/department. They will use you as a pawn for their own gain, no matter your goals and aspirations in the company or industry. HR will "promote" you or guide you into new roles in the company because they found a better way to use you and they won't let you choose your own path of "growth". They can even change your job title and responsibilities without you even knowing. Before you know it, you're doing something completely different than you originally signed for without HR or management even talking you through it or letting you know. This also affects reviews because they can add on responsibilities to your job title weeks before the review so you won't have time to work on them (assuming you even notice the change in responsibilities, they won't tell you). If you dare take notice of and bring up any of the company's sketchy moves and manipulation, you will probably be punished. If you're lucky, they might just talk down to you and belittle you. Otherwise, be prepared to be blindsided in a meeting by how you somehow don't work enough even if you're working well over 40hrs a week for the company doing multiple roles.
