I have been working at King & Wood Mallesons full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Free lunch, which saves you some penny. However, the portions are miniature and any 'extras' / second helpings will cost you anyway. Some colleagues who genuinely try to make a difference and work hard to keep the office alive Social events with my team, which despite the old boys' club tendencies still manages to organise a great night out here and there

    Cons

Many partners I've met are genuine bipolar sociopaths who will bully, cajole and openly insult anyone they consider inferior, while keeping a whole set of brown-nosing trainees and associates in their 'old boys' club' Work intensity can be very high at times, including many late nights The arrogance of some employees is unbelievable and they make it very obvious that you didn't go to Eton/Winchester/Harrow, while they did and are better thanks to it. Pay lags behind comparable firms, despite management constantly trumpeting the benefits of the new merger HR tends to micromanage and often displays favouritism to certain trainees over others. Complaints are often not acted on, despite being repeatedly filed. Many high-performing partners have jumped ship over the last two years and the firm keeps on pretending that all is well - the merger seems to have devalued the SJ Berwin brand without much gain

I have been working at King & Wood Mallesons for less than a year

    Pros

Excellent training for junior members of staff, free lunch, generally friendly atmosphere. The firm has a good reputation in the international funds department amongst its peers.

    Cons

Following a period of redundancies, the atmosphere is a little bit tense, but this is part and parcel. Not much transparency to members of staff, particularly junior members of staff

I worked at King & Wood Mallesons full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good people and great client list. Very collegiate atmosphere amongst support staff who work well as a team. Nothing overly bad to say.

    Cons

Greed and bad management by the inner circle of partners will lead to the demise of the London office. Little or no accountability to employees.
