I worked at Kurt Salmon full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Kurt Salmon has one of the best company cultures that you will find in the consulting world. The people are varied, friendly and extremely well specialised in their fields. The acquisition has meant that they have been able to tap into a wealth of knowledge from Accenture and in general the team are very happy with the move. If you are looking for projects that are operationally focused and allow for a real hands on retail...

    Cons

There is a degree of repetition on projects compared to other consultancies. If you like what you are doing, this is great!

    Advice to Management

Overall great job. You do need to know however that at a junior level everyone knows there is a large disparity in remuneration packages. Keep engaging with your team, they are the best advert to your success in this new world

    I worked at Kurt Salmon

    Pros

Fairly nice people, central London office

    Cons

Don't work there in the UK, do lots of standard, uninteresting projects, miles away from London, no career progression. USA is much better, totally different organisation, has the required scale and expertise e.g. better partners.

    Advice to Management

Take some risk and grow the business, hire higher calibre people and promote them more quickly

I worked at Kurt Salmon full-time

    Pros

Good if you want a uneventful, non-creative job and secure job. Small regular salary increase. Sociable employees makes for a relaxed atmosphere.

    Cons

The company is too busy to stay afloat to look after its employees. Rumors that all the money goes into management salaries.

    Advice to Management

Talked to your employees about improving the business continuity, involved them more so they feel empowered and deliver better results.

I have been working at Kurt Salmon full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Kurt Salmon is a great place to work for anyone who has a passion for retail/ consumer goods. Very collaborative environment with a lot of very passionate and genuine people. Interesting assignments and much more "hands on" and practical than many of the big strategy/ big four-type firms.

    Cons

Best for someone who already has a couple or a few years industry experience - may not be the employer of choice for a new undergraduate. The environment is somewhat less structured than some of the bigger firms - which I like, but may not be the ideal for a younger candidate.

    Advice to Management

Take a more structured approach to growing the business and growing the people with it.

    Cons

Poor compensation Limited career progression Seen as a poor alternative to the big four Will never compete with the top consultancy firms

      Pros

Nice office in NY Management is extremely fair and very approachable

      Cons

      Merged with a monster.

      Advice to Management

Take care of the original KS people. They have been loyal employees and are getting pushed around by the monster.

I worked at Kurt Salmon full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Some amazing projects (sometimes needed to network / leverage relationships to get staffed on the right opportunities). Really great people and culture. Engagement managers / clients generally respected work-life balance (although some projects were worse than others). My colleagues at KS were (are) some of my closest friends.

      Cons

Potential to travel every week (not always a Con, but it's the reality). Unless you live in New York. Your career path is in many ways shaped by the projects that are being sold (need to be very clear about your career goals to make sure you can get the experiences you need to grow). While I was there, some projects were poorly scoped / resourced. Some projects were overstaffed and people were underutilized --...
