I worked at LEWIS Global Communications full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-Overall a fantastic place to be a junior member of the team -From graduate level, training is hands on and you have clients right away -At LEWIS, the trust and opportunities given to juniors is great -Very past progression is possible -As everyone says, the culture is good and the people are generally helpful, smart and eager to innovate -Social side and perks (Thursday pub trips, Friday breakfasts, pub quiz) are good to have

    Cons

-Work/life balance can be tricky (as with any agency in the industry), however the company is making improvements in this area -Training has its ups and downs, however there is talk of changes to the system -New business opportunities can be manic and last-minute

I have been working at LEWIS Global Communications full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Had some great staff members across different teams that were friendly and welcoming.

    Cons

Training, meetings and support were insufficient - there are inconsistent structures in place across all accounts where expectations are unrealistic for the amount of time and effort management put into showing the correct processes - managers often exceed work hours and continue to expect work from staff beyond 5.30pm finish. New business is a priority over maintaining current business also. Senior- junior management are heavily stressed and often clearly express this through negative, critical behaviour. Seniority is often shown by pulling rank rather than helping out. Management and co workers always had time to criticise and belittle, but were always busy when help or support was required. Some fellow managers spoke to staff in an inappropriately severe manner, undermining self esteem.

    Pros

Supportive and secure environment, other staff seemed happy and un-stressed.

    Cons

The location around Milbank at the time was pretty sparse, but that may have improved since.

I have been working at LEWIS Global Communications full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - A good place to learn - that's partly because of a recently up-weighted focus on people / career development, but also because senior people get stuck in and involve more junior staff in nearly all client sessions - LEWIS is independent. So it can invest where it sees fit and be flexible. Not being beholden to a holding company or private equity makes a difference - Senior management is open and transparent with regular updates and are willing to invest in team spirit - an example here is not only summer and Christmas parties, but also the retox party which takes place every year late January - Regular resourcing meetings with team leaders mean that everyone's time and allocations are kept an eye on, so people aren't overloaded. This is probably reflected in working hours. If someone stays til 6.30/45 that's thought of as a late night, whereas in my previous agency, that was pretty much standard home-time

    Cons

    - I don't love the location (Westminster), but it's likely we'll be moving in the not too distant future when Millbank Tower turns residential - It seems to have taken a while to get the new career development proposals off the ground. In that time we lost some good people and so I think this should have come sooner

I have been working at LEWIS Global Communications part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Great people to work with: smart, quick, curious and committed to delivering excellent work - Some fantastic recent hires across the business are injecting new energy and giving different and interesting perspectives - As agencies go, there is a good work life balance - there definitely isn't a stay late culture. Everyone knows that agency world (particularly when it's global) doesn't just run 9-5 and there are lots of agencies out there really do pile on the pressure and the hours. - Everyone is empowered and expected to take some responsibility for their career development. There are plenty of opportunities (including the chance to spend time in other market offices across Europe, the US and Asia) for those who want to take them. - Open to flexible working at all levels - The social team has done a really good job, particularly recently, of coming up with various events and chances for everyone to get together - We're working more and more across teams, combining all the expertise we have in-house, which is a good way of keeping things interesting and also means everyone continues to learn

    Cons

    - Sometimes, new ideas and initiatives are introduced but not followed through - Internal comms could be improved - There could be a bit more focus on personal career development plans (which are apparently in the pipeline now) - More external training would be helpful

    Pros

The people. So many great, talented people. The agency is ambitious and wants people to succeed. It’s putting more and more effort and programmes into its talent mgmt and culture. It’s currently changing and building new capabilities and services. It’s exciting times.

    Cons

People may think the grass is greener but it isn’t. LEWIS does a lot right. Can always do more and the fact the management team is listening and doing more is good to see.

I worked at LEWIS Global Communications full-time

    Pros

Generally, the people who LEWIS hire are smart, capable and driven professionals who care about their clients, the quality of the work they produce and want to deliver to help their clients' business objectives as best they can. LEWIS also has a great international network and are flexible about international travel - it it encouraged and funded in various ways, and genuinely is something to be applauded.

    Cons

LEWIS claims to care about its people but has a heartless, soulless way of showing it. People are nothing but numbers and it comes across very clearly. There is no inspirational management, and any kind of creativity or deviation from pure money-making initiatives is discouraged and stifled before they are allowed to flower. There has been a massive exodus of employees which has been completely unaddressed by management.
