Pays better than other boroughs but is it worth it.

      Pros

      - Pays well - Going through pay spinal points is automatic - Values diversity - Opportunities, internal vacancies and secondments are always there

      Cons

      - Chaotic environment to work in - Strong competency bias - people who can do the job are made to do the work rather than the people who are paid to do that job. Many people having to cover other staff or vacant role with little to no acknowledgement. - Serious lack of strategy, always reacting rather being proactive - A lack of accountability for a lot of staff who don't do their job - Related to the point made previously, funding is not used appropriately - You have to know the right people to progress in your career. - Individuals with the 'gab' can go far, a lot of money was wasted removing these individuals from senior positions that they had no experience in. - When going for internal roles you are likely to be going against someone who is already doing the role so recruitment isn't always on an even keel. - Although many secondment opps they are rarely communicated and mainly shared amongst friends. - I did say they valued diversity but that is not reflected in the make up of the staff. Senior colleagues all come from a similar background and not reflective of the residents and out of touch. - A lot of managers but very little operational staff for Children Services and Public Protection this was a massive issue.

      Not That Great

      Pros

Most of my colleagues were very friendly. Blue star House is also not far away from where I live.

      Cons

There is clear favouritism by members of Senior Management. They also ignored blatant bullying behaviour and bad attitudes between members of other teams. Other team members could be extremely snippy. Senior Management were often unapproachable, to the point of being rude and not that eager to help. They were unsupportive. Sometimes, I could not believe the harsh and callous way they treated other people. The way in which some of them spoke to other people was not that great.
