I worked at Liberty Travel full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Opportunities to travel, simplicity of certain systems, learn about about the world

    Cons

Choatic leadership - they went through some restructuring during my time there but my team had 4 differnet team leaders in the 18 months I was there. High turnover The equal pay for all is good in theory but not so much when people in NYC and Boston make the same as people in much smaller and cheaper areas.

I have been working at Liberty Travel full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

discounts on travel, some free stays at hotels

    Cons

This is not a good place to work nor is it an easy job. Selling Vacations should not be this difficult and stressful. You get hired go through 2 weeks of training to make $14 an hour. They make you believe you’ll make a lot of money by selling but unless you are what they call a diamond agent you will only make $100-$300 in commission each month. They convince you by saying 'uncapped comission’The cost of everything, food,...

    Advice to Management

If you can’t respect your people, back off sometimes and pay people more for working so hard, having customers talk down to them, work tirelessly to be told “I found it cheaper online” then maybe you need to face reality and get rid of irrelevant jobs that you keep creating in HQ or just shut down all together.

I worked at Liberty Travel full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Opportunity for FAMs. Conference and ball each year. Some travel discounts.

    Cons

Every “store” operates different depending on the Team Leader. My store just happened to be more tense and a less flexible environment. The TL often put their personal emotions into decisions and micro-managed everything. This TL and toxic environment drove 3 of us away while corporate did nothing. Cold calls, forced phone calls, excessive amount of tracking/data entry, required rotation of desks daily. Altogether,...

    Advice to Management

As the cost of living increases, so should the base salary! $14.42 has been the same for quite a while. Change the hours to support work-life balance. Stop overloading agents with more tasks. Make sure managers are not selling like full-time consultants!!

I have been working at Liberty Travel full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Lots of vacation time Two free trips a year (consultant conference, national ball) Monthly events with open bar and all you can eat Additional incentives (free nights, gift cards etc if you hit sales goal)

    Cons

Cold calling Work life balance (if you take vacation you lose out on making money) Low wages (for living in the city base salary if barely above minimum wage) Stressful work environment (management always requiring more even if you hit sales targets it's never enough) Difficult to sell products that aren't of high value or are usually $200 higher than expedia or booking direct Very high turnover rate in all departments...

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Liberty Travel full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Fun work environment with great perks for travel. - If you are making sales and meeting quotas, you are generally exempt from critique. - People are open and accepting for the most part, very liberal company.

    Cons

    - Micromanaging has become a common place, this is a pro for some and con for others. - Most jobs are located in New Jersey, so room for growth is either in sales or requires relocating.
