      Amazing coworkers

      Pros

Its a large and leading operation with the heart of a mom and pop small business. This group makes you feel included and part of a team from day 1. They make sure to go over everything you need to know, and then some. The job is fast paced and the day goes quickly. You get to travel a lot. You get to see a different group everyday. If you have a hard time one day, the next day is a different school and a fresh start. Co-workers give great encouragement, bosses are the best I have experienced. There are other types of photo jobs you can be cross trained in. The company and upper management is always trying to find the best and easiest way to do things. You are provided with all equipment and supplies you need, and they are amazing at repairing and replacing as quickly as possible. Everyone goes above and beyond so that you can do your job. The hours are pretty much when schools are open, so you get holidays and weekends off typically.

      Cons

the good thing is its not a commission job, but the hourly pay is average, however the company does pay for drive time, which is very generous, mileage and gas. You do have to travel in all weather, and some schools have no AC, so buy water proof boots and bring a fan. Some days are so busy you may not get a break, so you'll definitely need snacks to keep going.

      Pros

A great way to learn or to enhance photography skills that you can build upon You can participate in various photography opportunities in addition to underclass work It's a seasonal position, which gives you a lot of personal time to handle personal things, plan vacations and recover from your work They provide all the equipment You work with many different schools in the territory you are assigned to which ads variety You get the opportunity to work with a diversified group of co-workers, as well as independently You are paid for work time and travel to and from schools, expenses and/or mileage

      Cons

Training is good, but there's a lot of holes in the training, and new photographers are sent out too soon, Weekly schedules differ greatly week to week during the peak photography seasons, which makes scheduling other priorities challenging, Traveling can get tedious, and there is a lot of wear and tear on your vehicle, They should increase base pay, performance bonuses, to attract and retain career-minded individuals

its a good temp job... but don't stay too long

      Pros

early mornings usually done before 4 o'clock and there's always an odd job during the summer and winter to keep you working. The pay is fairly low working almost at minimum wage BUT overtime pay will get you some much-needed cash during the spring and fall season.

      Cons

The company overworks and under pays its employees. The pay is fairly low working almost at minimum wage

      Pros

I loved how easy it was to be brought into the company. All of the questions are constantly answered to the best ability. I enjoy the work environment and feel I can raise any concerns that I may have.

      Cons

There can be a lack of communication between different departments at times.

      Pros

They provide equipment, a gas card, mileage reimbursement, tech support is good, good job for someone who isn’t a trained photographer

      Cons

Minimal training, chaotic backend, outdated equipment, heavy equipment, outdated everything, negative management, negative team members, dissatisfied team members, not a job for actual photographers, account specialists are unavailable/poorly trained, you’re the face of the company with no way to trouble shoot any issues a school might have

Not the same company since Shutterfly & Apollo purchased

      Pros

Before Shutterfly and Apollo got involved it was an amazing organization that cared for their people and customers. They put a lot of investment into developing people and recognizing them. You were a valuable addition to the team and felt that. It was an amazing family culture where everyone cared for each other. After Shutterfly and Apollo, the only pro I can say is the purpose and industry, which can be found at any other company.

      Cons

After Shutterfly and Apollo came into the mix all the pros above changed, you are a number who is under appreciated. Hillary is a joke, so is most of the executive leadership team. They don’t care about the people, they only care about the bottom line. Obviously this is important, but their style and approach is very offensive to those in the field. After the recent massive layoffs of over 800 people, to then find out it was done to position the company to be sold again and done in a manor that kept low performers and got rid of the best, I cannot recommend this company at this time. If the executive leadership team, especially Hillary, leave the organization I would approach this company with caution.

Great Seasonal Job If You Like Kids!

12 Apr 2021 - Photographer in Wauwatosa, WI

      Business Outlook

      Pros

This is one of the best and most rewarding jobs I've ever had, I really enjoyed working in a new location everyday and had a lot of fun interacting with the kids. My coworkers were all team players, though often you will be sent to a school by yourself. Very fast pace work. Good pay and gas compensation (make sure to file your taxes as an independent contractor) .

      Cons

Very long hours on your feet and moving heavy equipment. Sometimes I had to drive over an hour to get to my school, but was always paid for my drive time. Must have a large car or hatchback to carry equipment. Limited to no breaks. If you aren't good with kids don't apply, you will be interacting with a new kid every two minutes for up to 8 hours each day. I caught two colds while working a season, so if you have a poor immune system prepare for that, though this was pre-COVID so I am unsure how things are handled now.
