I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

9/80 schedule allows you to work and still have Fridays off. Great for families and young children as there is a lot of flexibility in time schedule.

    Cons

Very focused on years you've worked there, and hard to move up within a group.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Reasonable benefits, which continuously get worse and worse each year that passes. Large company so there are lots of opportunities to move around and learn new skills, but only until you reach a certain level. Then you will be completely stuck so its not even worth putting in any effort. Lots of effort and none at all get you to the same end point.

    Cons

Good luck getting a promotion unless you have negotiated your way into the inner circle, particularly if you are female and/or over 40. Very discouraging place to work if you are smart and ambitious.

    Advice to Management

Someone wake up HR before you get another class action suit against you.

    no advice to offer management

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, vacation time (10 hrs a month), and lots of opportunities to move around

    Cons

Lots of rules, and regulations since they are a government contractor and some rules are a little outdated (leftover from the 60s). You work 9 hours days (9/80 schedule) and some areas mandate a 45 min lunch. So you are at the office for a long time per day.

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Job security, industry stability, decent starting pay, excellent pay at higher levels. Well respected company that looks good on a resume.

    Cons

Small raises, few opportunities for advancement at lower levels. Very traditional, not a lot of room for innovation on the non-technical side. Can feel insignificant in supporting roles

    Advice to Management

Invest in your younger talent and offer straightforward objectives that provide advancement opportunities earlier.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Location was close to home

    Cons

Culture has changed for the worse since Lockheed Martin purchased company

Vacation/time off is less than previously offered by UTC - not competitive among today's large corporations

Annual incentive bonuses are a thing of the past

Turnover of management and seasoned employees increasing

    Very low morale

    Small raises

    Outdated policies

    Silo Organization

    Advice to Management

Sikorsky was an enjoyable place to work and employees loved the culture. I would recommend LM stop trying to impose so much change on employees in a short time. A 9/80 flex schedule will not make up for a cheap vacation policy. Employees are loyal to The Sikorsky grand. This is an old company. LM has given the impression to many that the Sikorsky brand will be phased out. You will have more employees running out the door if things sent turned around. Maybe this is what LM wants...

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Generally very good work-life balance for finance employees (trade-off is low pay, of course)
    Pretty good benefits
    In hindsight, very low-stress environment
    401(k) match is/was pretty generous
Not asked to do a whole lot, except during proposals or other special projects

    Cons

Not asked to do a whole lot, except during proposals or other special projects
To all those young people: most of your co-workers will be noticeably..... more experienced in the workplace, so don't expect an exciting work environment with lunches, happy hours, social activities, etc.
Some of your co-workers will be the type considered low-to-mid performers at other companies, just putting in the time to get a paycheck
Not a whole lot of career opportunities, I consider myself very fortunate to get the chances I had
